Devil's Advocate...

Kudos to all those trying to quit or those who have done... I'm sure it must be really difficult!

What I don't understand, apart from the obvious health side effects, is why people want to stop completely...
I used to smoke about 30-40 a day since I was 15 (appauling I know). But within the last 6 months I have cut down to 1 or sometimes 2 a day. This wasn't difficult and I still get to chill out in the bath or on the sofa with a fag and it feels good, but I don't feel the need to have any more!

Surely if you are on a diet (which I assume most on this forum are) then it must make things seem so much more difficult denying yourself cigarettes as well as your favorite foods?

torture!

I don't know the ins and outs of the damage that smoking causes so excuse my ignorance but 1 a day can't really be that bad, my great granny smoked all her life and lived till she was 96!

Reckon it might be a bit of a conspiricy or at least over-dramatised?

The damage to health is well known and anyone in the health profession will tear their hair out if you say that the damage is exagerated! LOL
You're very lucky if you can smoke one or two a day. If I smoked one, I'd finish the packet. It's a dangerous thing to suggest to ex-smokers, I think.

I wouldn't say so, It's a good idea, and I think it's alot like losing weight.... all about willpower...
I have more will power when it comes to smoking than food... Dunno about anyone else.
I just feel its wrong to deny yourself too much, just focus on one and when that's under control then urn our atention to he other...

I know a guy who carries a pack of 20 with him and he smokes about 2 a day, max. Works well for him but I'm an all or nothing kinda gal!:D
