I'm a WemITT! :) 10 stone to lose and need help please!

You could maybe do Weight watchers on your own, you can work out how many points you need then use some of the online points calculators (or buy a points calculator on ebay) to work out points values. I think it's quite do-able on your own.

You can do WW online which is good if you would rather not leave the house.
I'm on low carb, which works well for me, maybe have a wander round that bit, see if it's the sort of thing that might fit in with you? Good luck, whatever you choose!

i too have 10 stone to lose (god cant believe ive actually admitted it ) yes i am at a stage where i knew i had to do something and NOW
so i did and boy what a week of a roller coaster ive had
i decided to do (all about W8 )which is a vcld
extreme you may think but id had spoken to few people who said they had good weight losses on it so i thought id give it a bash just to give me a boost in the right direction and ive just had the best boost anyone could have ive lost 14lbs so guess that means i only have 9 stone left to lose boy that does sounds good
so my message to anyone out there on what ever diet they are on who feels they have bitten off more than they can cope with is ....keep at it one way or another you will get there 1 small step at a time

Hey Aimee!

I'd personally recommend looking into Ketogenic diets/carb restriction. It can be a good way to lose weight whilst still being satisfied with what you're eating :)

HI Aimee,

If your a student then I guess perhaps money is an issue.
It might be an idea to start looking at what you used to eat and when. Do you have any triggers for snacking or overeating etc?

Start by cutting down, reduce portion size or perhaps carbs if you tend to overload on them, warnign though you may feel headachy for a few days if you reduce them too drastically.
Look at sites liek WW and SW and work out a plan to suit you. I guess you still live at home and perhaps your Mum/Dad do the shopping so perhaps ask them to stock up on more fruit and veggies as a lot of these are classed as "free" foods on those plans. Lean proteins are good like chicken and fish and if you like chocolates or crisps etc dont deny yourself but have them as a treat and count them in on whatever plan you follow.

I have been overweight since I was your age and 20 years later I am still trying to lose it with more and more added over the years, do your best now and you will reap the rewards as you enter into adulthood.

Wendy x

Have you tried talking to your GP? They can be very variable and some are useless over weight but others can be really helpful and the good thing about them is they are free!

The key things they may be able to offer you are a consultation with a nutritionist, prescription drugs (Xenical and Reductil are both available on the NHS) and councilling.

You might also find that somewhere like a Well Woman centre might be able to help.

I haven't posted on here for ages, but I am the "mother" of the WeMitts. I started the thread in 2006, when I lost 11 stone on VLCD's. First LL, and then Cambridge.
Well, I've managed to keep 6 stone off, but fine myself 5 stone up, after 3 years - and I HAVE been trying!
So now, 'm back on Sole Source again, because I know it works. (Day 21 today) It's SO boring, but it does work!
Good Luck everyone, and when I've lost it again, I'll be looking for support to keep this 5 stone off.......

Hi Aimee, some of the problems you mention are similar to what I went through. I would urge you to do something that gets you out of the house. Perhaps you could try going to speak to your doctor as I know some GPs will "prescribe" a member ship to Weight Watchers or Slimming World/ or a gym subscription. If that is free on the NHS in your area , it's definately worth trying to get sorted for you. It's hard to want to go out feeling big and not having extra money to buy diet foods etc just makes it more challenging. You will find support here, but I would definately try to get into a club for the support and friendship locally as well. I hid away for the best part of my adult life due to feeling ashamed of my size and I would hate to think someone young like you is going through similar difficulties.
