how many carbs do you have daily?

hi just wondering...been having 600 cals a day and weight loss sort of halted so decided to have 500 cals but with reduced carbs. done this today but only managed 300 calories because I was so full from yesterday(i hiccuped and had 800 cals). 20g of carbs seemed to work well for me today(well i had 17g which worked well for the 300 cals). is this good enuff? im new to this carb thing so need all the help i can get. thankyou guys!

Most people on low carb plans do not count calories. Most the books on it say that less than 1000 calories sends your body into starvation mode and then you can plateau on your weight loss.

People on Atkins induction phase have up to 20g of carbs a day.

I am on Dr Charles Clarke. It recommends 40-60g of carbs a day. But can have less.

:)

Good call :)

It is best to either count calories or carbs.

IMHO, I would have a lot more calories than you are having. Just for your health. Even VLCD are usually around 700 cals a day.

Whatever you do, good luck and stay healthy :)

as Soph says, low carb and low cal don't really mix, I'm on about 50 - 60 carbs a day now, but I'm on Atkins maint.

If you're eating that low of an amount of calories, I think you should make sure you're consuming your whole caloric allowance in lean protein sources (chicken breast, etc), as little carbohydrate as possible. Eating protein should prevent your body attacking your Lean Body Mass for it's required protein and use the dietary protein instead.

In my opinion, wasting calories on carbohydrates/non essential fats when you're eating so little, is a bad thing.
