If you don't want to mix them in a meal then i'd go mix2max. Each meal should be either red or green. You still get 3/4 HEx's from red or green to use each day with meals or as snacks, your other snacks need to be superfree. On this plan everything you eat apart from main courses that isn't superfree or HEx has a syn value. So lets say you had steak and veges for your evening meal, and were planning to have a starter of bacon salad with a syn free dressing, and you've used your healthy extras for the day you would have to syn the bacon as it's not part of your main course free food allowance. You should have a mix2max booklet if you go to class and that will help.
