Hi everyone, my name is Kate, im new to this and very nervous

I have 3 children and with each child the weight just piled on and it has now got to the stage where I just dont enjoy life anymore

My husband is fantastic and VERY supportive, I think he is more nervous about the op than me

I'm 14st 10 (on last check) :sigh: and dying to be back to 9 stone, my life just isn't my own anymore, my weight is taking over, I wont go out incase I bump into people I havn't seen in years cos I know they will be shocked at the size I am (I would be)

I booked my operation on Tuesday night, I have my consultation next saturday and then flying to Birmingham the following Friday to have my op on the Sat, Dr Paul Super will be my surgeon and I am meeting him next week, I cant wait

Have any of you on here had the Lap Band and how have you found it, has it been the answer to your problems, I would just love to speak to people who are or have been in the same boat as me

Sorry for going on a bit, I tend to do that with nerves :p

Welcome kate
dont worry you ask away. we are really friendly here and you will get lots of advice/support. you would be better posting in the surgical w loss and you find all u need.
take care

personally I would love to have a lapband. tried to get it on NHS but they wouldnt give it to me. cant afford to go private so have no choice but to do it the hard way and do it myself. I am now on xenical and eating low fat foods and going to the gym 3 times a week. but my friend had the lapband done but she has had bad experience with it. she ate a chicken sandwhich (which obvisoley u cant do) and she was rushed to hospital with severe admoninal pain) she said it was the worst pain she had felt in her life. but no she has lost alot of weight and she goes gym every day and also boxing. but your not that overweight . lapband is normally for people that is seriously overweight . you dont have alot of weight to lose . but if this i what u want then go for it. but remember its very life changing. no eating anything except for sloppy soup

Hi KazzyKay, it might not seem like alot of weight to you but it is to me, it is taking over my life and I am prepared for the changes I have to make, I am almost 15 stone and need to loose 6 stone which is alot of weight and unfortunately I just cannot do it on my own hence the Lap Band :)

Hello and welcome Kate, nice to see a fellow Northern Irelander!

Just want to wish you all the best with the op, and I really hope you get the results you want. Take it easy,

Nicola xx
