hi there, i will be joining weight watchers online soon (when i have the money) but i really want to start now straight away, so could anyone give me an idea of what its about, how it works, and how many points i should be having a day?
i am 290lbs, and i am 5feet 7 inches if that helps?
i sooo hope that this can be the lifestyle change for me!

thank you xxxx :D

Hey assj

Welcome! I will work out your points for you m'dear. I just need your age and are you mostly sitting, standing or very active at work? xx

thank you so much for doing that for me. thanks for the welcome, i really hope this is going to be the lifestyle change for me, i have sooo much weight to lose, it needs to go, i want to be able to play around with my daughter, and i dont want her to be embarassed by me or get picked on when she goes to school, i have to do this for her more so than myself.
quick question though, do i have to use all of my points or will it be ok if i go under them once in a while?

She's your daughter she'd love you whatever my love. But good for you if you are determined to lose the weight that's great. You'd have to go a long way to get the support that you get here. I've not been a member for long but i already feel so so welcome.

You're absolutely right it's a lifestyle change and i'm trying to do the same (I'm 22). It's about re educating yourself and to drop old habits.

The beauty of WW is that you can eat anything you like providing you point it which means you can have those treat days when you really need them.

With regards to your points you are meant to eat them all but you can save a maximum of 4 a day to be used on treat nights. If you are really struggling to eat your points you could maybe reduce your activity levels during the day to the level below giving you a total of 32 points. I'd try it at 34 to begin with and see how you go/ Don't forget as you lose weight the amount of points you have go down.

I wish you all the luck in the world m'dear we have a similar amount that we are wanting to lose so i will keep an eye out for you. If you need anything else just ask xxx

welcome to the forum and good luck with weight watchers

its deffo a lifestyle change and its the best feeling when you weigh in every week and can see and feel differences.

As *saski* says your daughter will love you no matter wha

see you about the board

Hello and welcome! weight watchers is a great diet cause its so easy! Dont forget places like tesco, marks and sainsburys put weight watcher points on a lot of their healthy range of ready meals which makes lunches a doddle! :) good luck!

welcome to the boards :) i would be safe and say start on 32, not 34, as a lot of us think we are much more active than we really are.

I think you need to do this for yourself, not for your daughter - she will always love you no matter what and you thinking otherwise is obviously something thats worrying you, and if you were happy with yourself then you wouldnt think that.

good luck with your June mini challenge btw, you will be amazed at how good you feel once you start dropping the pounds, and just how much more active you will be looking after your bairn :) x

Oh assj you should always diet for yourself! As well as wanting to be a healthy mum! You sound like a great mum so concerned for your daughter:)

Hi and welcome! Great advice above and I think you can "go-it-alone" without joining on-line with all the advice, tips and support on this forum!

As for counting points, if you Google WW points calculator, loads of sites come up, so you could do it that way and it's free - but I don't know just how accurate they are though!

I'm a mum to a 7yr old boy and 4yr old girl and they loved me fat, slim, fat, and getting slim again!!! Your babies only every see "mum" not a fat or slim person and they love you unconditionally, just like we do with them...xxx

Good luck and keep us posted!
