Weight Loss Slowing Down...Advice Needed Please

Morning all,

I got on the scaled and STS this week. I have honestly tried hard this week so was a little gutted that I didnt loose.

The last few weeks I have only been loosing 0.5lb and I think it's slowing down but i'm still 7lb away from my personal target.

Can someone please give me some advice on how to kick start my weight loss again? I have always gone to the gym and followed the slimming world diet but I really want to get to my target weight of 10st before I go away on the 26th July.

Advice would be greatly reaieved! :D

This happened to me a little while ago. I dropped my syns down to between 5 and 10 a day for a couple of weeks and I soon saw the losses start to come off. I'm back to between 10 - 15 syns a day and the weight is still coming off.

You could also try to vary you diet to things you don't normally eat instead of eating the same things each week.

If you eat mainly green days throw in some red or EE days as well, I think this can help.

You haven't got far left to go, you'll do it :)

I dont normally eat any more than 8 syns a day anyway :( will try cutting it down a little more then.

I do try to get a varied diet too but its hard as im so skint lol

Thanks for the little boost at the end :)

This may sound funny but you might need to increase your syns a little then instead.

I know what you mean about being skint...I'm right there with you.

It's my daughters birthday party tomorrow and she's having a little birthday tea on Monday which is her birthday, so I feel some birthday cake will be on the cards for me this week :( I'm not even going to try and fight it...lol.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself - it will happen! Your body is adjusting and the weight loss really does slow down towards the end - it took me 6 months to lose my last half a stone.

If I'm struggling or I want a boost - I always follow success express. One third of your plate is red and/or green foods and 2/3rd is superfree. You have your 2 A's and B's and syns but only snack on superfree foods.

It's tough and you have to adjust your menu slightly (well I do!) but it does work.

I also cut my syns down to 5 a day, that works too. This is why SW always try to encourage people to eat their syns as if you don't have many as a norm, then you have little to cut down on.

Stick with it chick, the weight will come off and you will feel fantastic when you get there!

It's normal, don't worry. Look how much weight you've lost - your body just needs time to readjust and then you'll bomb through. Last time I lost loads of weight (with WW) I STS for about 3 weeks, put on a half-pound, and then lost 3lbs in one week, bombing me through target and making my consultant "warn" me about possibly just not eating enough! I hadn't changed a thing.

Ninja's advice is spot on if you want to stir your body up a bit. It just needs a little help, that's all. But don't worry, your weight loss will start happening again.

hello,
are you still weighing your healthy extras as the size maybe creeping up abit. maybe go back to the begining and re read all your books again. you have done so well so far and you will get to your target

Thanks all :) some lovely advice and words there.

So do you think I should be increasing or decreasing my syns though.

I think im going to start from scratch, get motivated and give it a darn good shot!

Don't forget to drink lots of water! You've lost an impressive amount of weight, well done! Do you do the same things every time you go to the gym? You should have a review every 6 weeks and change weights, speed , machines to shock your body otherwise like the food your body just hunkers down. Alot of folk swear by spinning classes. You'll get there don't worry!

My gym is very basic and dont have spinning classes unfortunatly, I did look into it as my mate spinns as a different gym. I do basically the same thing eat time i go so will try and mix it up a bit.

Im trying to drink as much water as i can but i get so bored of it and only manage about 1.5lts a day (excluding tea - im guessing that doesnt count though).

So action plan is to....

1) Incerase my super foods
2) Mix my gym routine up a bit
3) Go back to the start, have my 10-15 syns a day and follow the diet by the book

That should *hopefully* do it!

I'm sure it will do it Sarah-jane, you have done so well and those last few stubborn pounds are always the worst to come off, but you will get there, good luck to you.

Yep, I agree with what others have said, it's all about variety. Vary your foods, your exercise, etc so your body doesn't get too used to anything.
Good Luck!! x

I've never cut down my syns - always have 105 per week - I think the key thing is to mix up your food a bit more - focus on those speed foods like others have already said - I'm trying to shift the last pound and am eating strawberries and melon like there's no tomorrow!!!!!

Yellow plums are a SS food and Tescos were doing some beautiful punnets recently - look out for those!

Ive had big losses the past 2 weeks doing success express, Id give it a try x

How long has it taken you to loose the last few pounds Rach?

oooh AGES!!! BUT I have had a couple of weeks off plan here and there so I've had a small amount of gains and STS's... just looking at my Lifeonline thingy and I was 10 stone 7 at the beginning of April... I'm not 10 stone 1 and so that's taken about 2 months to lose 6 pounds. I know I could have done it quicker if I wanted to but I've been stressed with a few things (hence going off plan here and there) and my goal was to get to target before my holiday on 20th June so I wasnt in a big hurry...

I think you could reach your target quicker than me if you stay focused... and 100% so I think it all boils down to how strong-willed you are, good luck xxx

I think I am generally strong willed (unless it comes to a curry!)

Right.... Im going to loose 1lb next week, I can feel it!
