Hi guys,
Hope you don't mind me joining in here?! I have decided to try calorie counting and exercise having tried many different kind of diets before (without success!)

My first question is, how many calories do i need per day to loose weight? Is there any way of working it out?

That's a handy looking site, CC, thanks for posting it.

And Sam, you could try starting at 1500 calories and see how much you lose - you can always cut down a little if the weight isn't coming off as you like it to. I think it's best to start quite generously and work from there in the early days... if you start too low then you can leave yourself with nowhere to go when the weight loss slows, and there's a danger you might get diet fatigue.
