Help with Green?

This is the 3rd time that I have attempted SW. I love the diet, I think it's amazing you can eat all this food and lose weight and I have, last time I lost 5lbs before I fell off the wagon.

But this happens to me every time and it's part of the reason I give up. As a vegetarian I can only do green days and as a result, I find myself running out of ideas. This is my third day and so far I've already had Quorn lasagna, Quorn bolognese, SW chips, egg, baked beans, mug shots and rice. And I've run out of ideas. I always use up my HexBs on breakfast and lunch so when evening comes I cant use them.

And I'm a picky eater! It's terrible! The only cheese I like is mozzarella, I don't like tomatoes and I hate cottage cheese!:snooty:
I suppose it would help if I didn't think of my syns as 'sins' but I can't help it.

Grrr, I'm just having a little rant here I'm sorry. I really ought to join the class near me but I'm scared to.

Don't worry about having a rant, that is what we're here for! Don't be scared to join a group everyone is so lovely - it's absolutely brilliant.

Have a scan through the recipe section for some ideas. I too only do Green days, but its like Ready Stead Cook with my Mum - give her an egg an onion, some cheese and rice and she comes up with something magical and yummy! Give the same ingredients to me and you'd get a boiled egg with some rice and cheese on top and the onion in the bin!

Stick with it, you know it works! The girls and boys here are wonderful!

Best wishes,
Natt xxx

Lol - Onion in the bin. Made me laugh!

The reason I'm afraid to go to classes is in case I see someone I know. The only person who knows I'm attempting this is my boyfriend, and I'm worried that someone will say "oh I saw her at slimming world the other day" and then people will find out. I don't like telling people I'm trying to lose weight in case I fail, which I invariably do.
Plus a friend of mine's mum went, and apparently the consultant was mean, and said that losing a pound a week wasn't enough. :S
Oh yeah, and is it true they charge you if you don't go?

I'm a vegetarian and only follow green too. You can have veggie curry, veggie chilli (use quorn mince if you like), bolognaise using quorn mince again, jacket spuds with a variety of toppings, new potatoes and salad, quorn sausages are free, baked bean lasagne, 4 bean chilli... the list is endless really
Have a look on the SW website for a 7 day menu planner for ideas

That's a good idea, I forgot you can have a 7 day plan on Green. SW seems a bit obsessed with Extra Easy ATM.

If I were you, I'd go to a group (don't worry about seeing someone you know, they'll be in the same boat and will be too worried about their own problems) even if you only go the once and buy lots of recipe books and get the password for the website so you can look at the recipes there too.

There's loads of stuff you can eat, how about looking online for veggie recipes and converting them to sw recipes. You don't have to live on quorn, how about vegetable curries, frittatas, soups, there's loads of stuff if you use your imagination! I like tofu in stir fries with lots of veggies and noodles. Good luck!

If you are worried about going to a particular group try another one, there is about 5 in a 3 miles radius where I live! 1lbs a week is about perfect! And you do have to pay if you don't go, this is the rule; you get 4 weeks holiday a year so you can take a week as holiday if you tell your consultant in advance, if you miss a week and go back then you have to pay for both weeks, if you miss quite a few weeks it is easier and cheaper to rejoin.
Your Mums friend may of had a bad experience, but I've only ever had good ones, like I say you can go to any group in the country sometimes you get a personality clash! Look at your weight loss journey as a positive thing - whether you think you can or can not - you're right!

Good luck hun,

I believe its now 6 weeks holiday we get, I guess with more people travelling these days they have to be more lenient.
However, my consultant told us that it we keep on rejoining due to it being cheaper than paying back dates then we still only get 6 weeks, so in other words, we are entitled to 6 weeks per year (from when you first join) no matter how many times you rejoin.

i say get your self to the meeting, after a week or so you'll be fine. you can pick peoples brains and find stuff out that you probably didnt even think u could have. Also it helps keep u motivated. Being the only guy at my meeting is awkward, but everyone is so nice and freindly, just like this site. and imagine me telling my friends i goto slimming world. They thought i had a secret girlfriend cos i kept disappearing for a couple of hours on a tuesday night lol. but im quite open about it now, slimming world that is lol

Hiya,

Im veggie too so like you I only have green days. When I joined in March I bought the 100 green recipes book & Ive tried lots from there.

I often make vegetable lasagne, quorn mince shepherds pie, stir-fry with quorn (the chicken style pieces) or I have that quorn mixed with plain couscous & peppers & tomatoes. For lunch I often make pasta with passata & peppers or salad with couscous. And tesco do a mediteranean couscous which is half a syn per packet & also a lemon & coriander which is really nice. Hope these are some more ideas to try.

One of my fave green meals is Risotto -I roast some vegetables and chuck them in the rice at the end and serve with salad. Also pasta n sauce the same way. Good luck with it x

This is a recipe I adapted from a diabetic recipe;

Chick Pea Pilau
1 Large onion, finely chopped
2 Cloves garlic, crushed
1 Large carrot, diced
1 tsp Ground Cumin
7oz Rice
1 ¼ pt Vegetable Stock (3syns)
2 tbsp Chopped Fresh Coriander
1 Large can chick peas, drained
Salt and pepper
Fry Light

Serves 4.

3 syns for the whole dish on green

Tip: If you replace the stock with chicken Bovril, the whole dish is free

  • Heat fry light in a large non-stick frying pan or wok and cook the onion, garlic and carrot, for 5 minutes until soft and golden.

  • Stir in the cumin and rice and cook for 1 minute, stirring.

  • Stir in stock, bring to the boil and gently simmer for 30 minutes.

  • Stir in chick peas, coriander and seasoning. Cook for a further 5-10 minutes or until all the liquid has been absorbed.

take the plunge and join a group. I find that i get so much encouragement from the group, and added to this site i feel the amount of support that i get is brilliant.

Thank you... I'm overwhelmed with responses! I am seriously considering going along on thursday. The thought of having the password to the online site is a big motivator lol! Like Dehli said, I can always quit if I don't like it... :) And who knows, it could be the reason I succeed this time.

Go for it!! Group is so good for motivation, inspiration and generally keeping you on track. The password is great too and you can get lots of info from the website.
I couldn't do this without going to class, I am not looking forward to going tonight as I know I have gained on holiday and it means I will HAVE to lose weight next week so the pressure is on but I will still go, and I know I'll feel better for it.

Don't worry about seeing anyone you know, they are all there for the same common goal - to be slim for life, no one should say anything about it. If your head is in the right place for losing weight then you won't fail. You will get all the support you need both at group and on here and if any consultant tells you a pound a week isn't good enough then they want sacking - it's know in SW circles as "the perfect pound!"

Do it!!!
