I have no excuses left... :(

IrishMum

A little of everything!
Well, I just got my thyroid results back and they've dropped back into the 'normal' range- so I literally have no excuses left, or reasons why I'm not shifting this weight as quick as I should.

All I can do is keep the faith and keep plodding along until Friday. If I have another bad weigh-in I don't know what I'll do though...I'm getting very de-motivated to keep at it when I'm getting such small losses? :(
I think to myself, maybe I should just accept the weight I am and just go back to eating healthy and trying to maintain the weight I'm at now? :sigh:

Hi there, Irish Mum, I really don't know what to suggest as you are following the LT programme to the letter....See what happens this Friday and then if you feel you want to do a less radical diet, it possibly may be the way forward for you. I would certainly have caved in by now, if I had been you and I really do admire the way you have been sticking to it regardless. But if your thyroid is now normal, that's a good thing....right???

Well, the meds have been keeping it within the normal range, so nothings changed really? I have to take the meds for life. The pharmacist thought my levels might have changed, which would help explain the small losses, but nope?
Ah well...I've contacted LT's medical advisor to see what they advise, and will keep plodding along.... LOL!
Stubborn as a mule, thats me! It's a pity I couldn't have developed this willpower years ago!

OH irishmum so sorry about your situation must be so demotivating, just stick with it maybe for 1 more week to see how you get on you have done so well up until now even as you say they are small losses you are still loosing, maybe wont done that on any other diet.
good luck hun and keep us posted xxx

Thanks everyone. Will keep at it and let you know how I do....((sigh)) ;)

ow irish :hug99: i feel for you! :( but look, you may not be losing it as quickly as others but atleast you are still losing!!! :D think positive woman, be strong you can and will do this!!!

Are you happy with how you are now? or would you really like to be that 25lbs lighter? if youre truely happy then stop tfr, be sensible food wise and maintain, if not carry on with it and see how long you can go for :) xxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Irishmum

Now, Irishmum I am a fellow thyroid sufferer and I have been on thyroxine for 8 years gaining weight rapidly all the way( For those who are wondering how this affects the body, it means we have an extra slow metabolism). We cannot let this 'glich' take over lady!! You have lost a lot of weight so far, therefore 'something' has got to be working. LT is not forever (thank goodness) but it is a bridge to get us over a hump (large one) in the road and maybe also to prove weight loss is possible, which in your case and mine ( I'm only week 3) is actually happening.
Don't give up now, I'm watching your space, watch mine and we can encourage each other. Comparing ourselves to other weight losses can be hard but we can eventually get there.
My dose is now 125mg. I have tried doing a little extra walking to kick start the fat burn, cross fingers!! Even a 2lb loss a week would be good...so far I have hardly lost anything on any other diet.
Keep going :patback:

Hi irish mum,
firstly glad to hear your thyroid is sorted as this would surely affect you in other ways also. I know it's hard but try not to be disheartened, you are losing, maybe not as quickly as you wish but perhaps as quickly as suits your body. Wishing you all the best.
Doirin

Really feel for you Irishmum. You've done brilliantly to stick to it like you have. Hope you find the strength to persevere with it for a bit longer. If you lose 2lb per week for the next 10/11 weeks you will be there. It might feel like a long time but it isn't really in the whole scheme of things?

I've been fat for about 9 years now and would like to hope I could stick it for 6 months if it meant I would get there.

Wishing you the best of luck for your next weigh in

Thanks everyone for all your support. I know I should be grateful that this is working- even v e r y slowly, but it's getting harder and harder to justify- both money wise and socially? My poor Hubby hasn't been out with me since I started and is starting to complain (jokingly) that people will think he's buried me under the patio! LOL! But you're all right, it IS working. So I'll plod on until the wedding in a few weeks and see where I'm at then. I think if I could get to 10 1/2st on LT I'd be happy atm, even though my LT target is 9st 13lb (mine was 9st 7lb, but I was being very optimistic at the time and assuming I'd lose like everyone else!)
The scales aren't being kind this week so far (2lb up) but I know not to pass too much remarks of that. I think the heat is making me retain fluid a little? Plus the ducolax isn't doing it's job (sorry if tmi!).
Never mind....I'll keep at it. No-one could say I haven't tried! LOL!

Hi Irishmum
I feel for you! I have been on thyroxine for about 9 years and it is very hard shifting weight. This is the first diet I have been on where I have lost, what seems to me a lot, but remember how I moaned last week? :) Still never happy.
Now, dont know if this helps. But, my boss's mother came over from India and she has a thyroid problem, and was told that the one excercise that helped thyroid problems was walking. She started walking everywhere and apparently she has been able to get her weight down.....I keep thinking I need to do more walking and prove that this is true!!
Maybe walking every single day (if you dont do it now), or if you do, try an extra mile every day and see if it works!
I will do this too because I feel very demotivated today.....lets see if walking does something to the thyroid gland :)
Well done to you though for your determination! Must be the Irish in you ;-)!!

LOL! I have mentioned my Irish thick wit before somewhere!

I walk 3 miles in 40mins (i.e. quickly!) about 5 times a week already, as had been suggested by the dietitian. It didn't make a button of difference even before LT, and I'm afraid to stop it now in case it halts my losses altogether!
