Big Boy

They have done well.

Yes fair play to them! Don't think I'd fancy something as drastic as a gastric band though. Maybe if it were that or die, though I'm hardly a small bloke right now...

Can they be removed?

last year i went to see my GP and asked him about a gastric band as i thought i would benifit from one , at that time my BMI was 35, he said you have to be over 50 BMI to qualify is this true or is this another of these postcode lottery NHS scams again . however sincew then i have decided against it and decided to lose the weight naturally
but i would like your thoughts on this and if anyone else has had any simular experencies to what i had when i went to see my GP.

Having seen various TV programmes about gastric bands, most of the ones I've seen have lost weight slower than I did following Cambridge (and my weight loss was fairly steady in comparison to to others as I took several holidays throughout) so I'm afraid I'm not that impressed. I saw one man recently who had only lost about 1/2 stone in a couple of months - your head still needs to be in the right place so fair play to these 2 who have used it as a tool to help them. I still think some people see them as a cure-all and then those people who slightly resent having to resort to a band try to find out what they can do to out-wit it

I dont think i would want to have something that drastic done but it's good that they are healthier now!
