Holiday worries, again!

As you may or may not know, I am going on hols on Wednesday (woop woop!!!). I was originally planning on having 2 maintenance products a day and then a sensible fishy/chicken type meal with a salad in the evening. I am really enjoying refeed and I am now maybe thinking of continuing this refeed week for one more week. If I take some shakes for breakfast (and I will be having them for breakfast, we will all be up early. My husband will kill me if I start going back to bed with the baby on hols!) and then prepare a nice salad with tuna for lunch with say a yoghurt and piece of fruit, then a healthy meal in the night. Will this be better? I might take some bars just in case we are out all day. What do you think??? It is so hard to know what to do, especially as I still have weight to loose.:confused::confused:

That sounds great to me, 1 shake and 2 nice healthy meals.
I am taking porridge with me on holiday to have in the mornings and I love going to the local market for all the fresh fruit which I will snack on during the day.
Lunch will sometimes be made in the apartments and then a meal out in the evening.

Sounds good :)
I'm off to the lake district next week. We've hired a cottage so going to be doing my porridge in the mornings and maybe a couple of evening meals too.
There will be lots of eating out though so I am going to do tonnes of walking and try and find a pool so I can swim everyday and do some damage limitation!
Where you both off to?
x

I am going to Icmeler in Turkey. I love the place and the people, I already have all the clothes on the spare room bed ready for packing, I get so excited.

I love the Lake District, just hope the weather picks up for you. Its atrocious again here in Wales today, sick of this rain.

Hey guys, I'll be going to Morocco this year and I'm a little worried myself about weight gain.

Over there, we hardly have sweets, and when we do it's usually once or 3 times a week. We eat lots of protein, meat, chicken and plenty of fish. In our culture, it's a blessing to eat our food with bread. It's homemade, and we have it for all 3 meal times.

I'm really active when over there, lots of walking, and I go to the beach almost everyday and swim for about 5 hours.

Will my weight creep up?

I shouldn't think so with 5 hours swimming!
I went to Marrakech the summer before last and LOVED the food. We got food poisoning though so I am having trouble persuading my bf to come to a Morroccan restaurant with me!
I'd love to be able to cook a decent tagine, they're sooo good.

LOL aww, yes Moroccan cooking is amazing! my favourite is baklawa (moroccan sweets and cakes) and I love cous cous!

The best way Moroccan food is cooked is traditionally by the Moroccan mother. There's nothing like it. My aunt is an amazing cook! can't wait to have her cooking when I go.

I've never been to Marakesh, I come from a small town called Larache. It's near the city of Tangier.

The square in the centre is amazing - at night it fills up with food stalls and gets packed with people, so much fun.

Hi Glammam, I think that sounds a really sensible plan. Hope you have a really fantastic time.

Hi girls thanks for the advice. We are going to Ibiza! Cant wait now. We are staying in San Antonio Bay which I've heard is lovely for families. I just thought to myself, why limit myself to just the maintenance bars when I can buy lovely salads and stuff from the markets, but it will be nice to have them just as a back up. We will be doing lots of walking too, and swimming! Bought gorgeous little bathers for Katie, so cute! It will be the first time we've taken her in the pool! So excited now!!! xx

Yasmine with all the exercise you should be fine. Just go steady on the bread and try to fill up on the proteins and salads.

Ok, thanks. I'll try to, it's really hard to eat other their without bread since we eat most of our food with our hands.

Hi Yasmine
I am inclined to recall a back packing holiday in Morocco in 1982, many moons ago. We started in casablanca, down to Safi ,Quarsazate (not spelt right).Agadir, Marrakesh,Rabat then back to casablance. We had great hospitality whereever we went and got letters of introduction to meet and stay with friends/family of people we met on the way. Nothing like eating traditional food in someones home. I have many fond memories and a few funny ones as well. Never know may go back there again sometime.

Talking about eating food in someones home, our Turkish friend invited us to his home last year, his Mothers cooking was awesome, and we all sat on cushions on the floor and all the dishes were placed on a huge round silver tray. Nicest food I have ever tasted.

Yasmine, could you give me some of your Mothers cous cous recipes, I have tried this a few times and I cant find anything I like. I love anything spicy.

LOL sure, I'll ask my mum. She doesn't follow a recipe though, she knows it by watching my grandma when she was still alive.

I'll ask her to writ it down though :).

Wow! you must have had a blast. I plan to travel more when I go back. Might even cross over to spain then come back. Spain and Morocco are very close.

Thanks hun, I do want to start eating cous cous, but just one of those things, never had much to do with it, and my couple of experiments with it ended in the bin.

It is my all time fave in the whooooooooooole world!

I can't wait to have it! :)
