maintenance question

Hi everyone,
I'm staying at a friends for a couple of days and I don't want my calorie counting/weight loss to be a big issue. I currently eat between 1100 and 1300 a day and my maintenance is around 1800. Do you think if i eat roughly to my maintenance for 4 or 5 days i would just maintain? Or because my body is used to less calories, will i perhaps gain a little bit?

I know 4 or 5 days isn't much, but i'd like to know because there are some days where i'm with company (like my parents and sister) who don't like to see me dieting and who would be worried if they knew i was calorie counting. If eating to maintenance won't mess up my body then it would be a good last resort in these situations.

Thanks!

I think eating your maintainance is a good idea - you shouldn't gain weight on this. You might hold onto more fluid if you eat more carb than usual.

I know what you mean - it is hard to calorie count when you are a guest and don't want to make a fuss... breakfast is quite easy to keep control of and you could take some fruit with you to snack on during the day...as for meals, I am sure you will make sensible choices if you are eating out and say no to dessert, leave the butter off your potatoes, not eat too much of the carbohydrate etc and you will be fine for the few days...if you put a pound on it isn't the end of the world, I am sure you'll lose it again.

Just try to relax and enjoy your visit with your friend! Have a lovely time.

Thanks, i'm sure it will be ok. It's just that every now and then i do have a binge (not as often as i used to and i can control it fairly well) and if i go over my calorie plan for the day by 200 or so calories i feel so guilty and horrible.

I know i won't gain by going over my by 200 and i'll still lose (eating 1400 or so) but i think because i only ever go over my usual calories when i binge. I've never gone over them whilst i was in control, which is what will happen when i'm at my friends. I know calories from binging is very different, so i shouldn't worry about going over 1200/1300 for a few days, unless it's because of a binge!

We can't be perfect all the time :) else we wouldn't be on here! Try not to beat yourself up (I'm a fine one to talk i do exactly the same with the guilt though!). The fact you are focussed on means you will make the right choices and still enjoy yourself!
