Impromptu trip to Australia! Help!

Just got a new job, starting on the 1st of June so my husband and I decided to squeeze in one last holiday before its all work work work. What do I do?? I heard somewhere that we're not allowed to take packs into Australia? Is this true? I'm really panicking at this as I have no idea what to eat if I can't take my packs with me! Should I just stick to a low carb/low fat (like south beach diet) for the duration of my stay there (10 days)??? So confused and would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I'm Aussie! You defo won't be able to take packs or any food of any kind to Australia. Border patrol is crazy! I would follow low carb atkins style (food is amazing there, loads of lovely fish and steaks) or else look into Cambridge diet soyaslim in Australia.. Maybe you can get some packs from a counsellor there?? Contact details are on their website. Have a fab time! You will love it

You should be able to take the bars in as they are quite highly processed, but not the packs as they contain milk and won't be allowed across the border due to the risk of foot and mouth.

Make sure you do declare everything you take in though on your incoming passenger card, you can keep more than you think so long as you declare it, but milk, eggs or dairy products and fresh meat is generally a no no.

I lived there for a few years and got used to the routine. They do have other meal replacement diets that you can buy from the chemist though cos i was on one. Very similar to CD, celebrity slim is practically identical to it.

Have a great time.

Oh lucky you going to Australia-I can't wait to go back again! I'm going to give the relatives a huge shock when they finally see me again 'cos I'll weigh almost 8 stone less than when they last saw me! Hoping to go back sometime next year and want to squeeze in Sydney again-I love it there and want to do the Bridge Climb. Whereabouts in Oz are you going to?

How wonderful! Have a fab time away. I can see you are at your goal weight, but you could follow a low fat / low carb sensible diet and just enjoy yourself while you are away and then get back on to the wagon when you come back home...

Thanks so much everyone! We're going to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth... Phew!! Spoke to my CDC and she said to follow a low carb low fat, high protein diet while I'm there and straight back on SS for a week then back up the plans again. So something like poached eggs for brekkie, fish and salad for lunch and pretty much the same for dinner (maybe cooked veggies then)....Sigh! feels like something always interrupts when I'm going up the plans and I'll be on SS forever!!!

My relatives live in Perth-I can't wait to get back there and see them again!

I'm so jealous, I miss home so much! But you missed the best city of them all... Brisbane! "beautiful one day... Perfect the next!"

my OH is from brisbane - i went for a month over xmas and new year and put on a stone - so watch out! i could have chosen so many healthy options that i didnt though, the chippies can make your fish without batter and there are always salads on the menu - for xmas dinner we had fresh prawns and salad! if i go back i will be following something like the south beach too, that kind of diet is good for all the food there. you wont find quorn there though :(

but you can have kangaroo mince and steaks.. No fat, all protien!

cd downunder

Just to let you know they do have Cambridge Diet here in Oz. Mainly in Melbourne but there are others scattered about! Im on it in Perth so if you need packs there are cdc's out there but be prepared for paying alot more! To me its worth every cent!
