Just remember to try not to make it too thick - experiment with amounts of water / amounts of PH.

It's an acquired taste / texture ... some people don't get on with it (I personally love it). Hope you find the right balance and find it more enjoyable next time.

PS
I had my first banana & cinnamon porridge the other day ... YUM!

Tried it for the first time yesterday and nearly choked by the end it turned into glue:eek:

However today I made hot vanilla with 250 mls and added i dessert spoonful and stirred. It was just like ready brek a little thin so tomorrow I will add a tiny bit more.

I really really like it and it was so filling.:)

Hot toffee and walnut is my favourite shake so I will try that tomorrow.

BTW I have now had this cleared for use with CD by Head Office.

They say try Fibre 89 in the first instance, however, PH is fine as long as you stay within the recommended amounts:)

Sorry to sound cynical but they're bound to say try Fibre 89 in the first instance .... ;)

Also, the recommended amount of PH on the tub is designed for people already getting a degree of fibre from their normal diets ... I can't see how an extra couple of teaspoons can make much difference (epecially as they're carb and cal free and totally indigestible).

However - nice to know the bods at the top have given the thumbs up :)

What a co-incidence I was gonna just ask about the recommended levels.

I tried some and it was gross, but then I cracked it and have beautiful vanilla porridge. I cant do it with soup at all. Even just using a little.

Anyway, how much is ok to have? I only started having it 2 days ago, but I feel bloated...

CD I think were saying Fibre 89 is used as a preventative - however, you cannot make porridge with it:D

On the pack I have it recommends on heaped dessert spoon per day which is 10 grammes.

I suppose we all differ. I have stuck to what it says just in case:eek:

which flavours are best for porridge?

have 5 boxes of husks but still havent tried them as a porridge. will remedy that in the morning :)

mmm toffee and walnut is rather gorgeous lol

What are husks?

We're all different artemis and it's just a case of experimenting until you find the right level for YOU. For some, that's just a couple of teaspoons a day - for me, I have anything from two to four dessertspoons (2 as porrige and 2 in soup). That works brilliantly for me but may be too much for others.

If I were you, I'd probably stick to just a dessertpoonful to start with and adjust it up or down once you can guage how effective it is. :)

Thanks Russian Doll. Im so loving the vanilla porridge!!
Going to try Chocolate this morning.

One of the best things I find is that I split the pack and have 1/2 for breakfast (usually not a big need time for me) Its so good to have something hot in the morning!!

Reminds me of when I was little.

Ok guys sounds convincing so where can I buy these husks and what are the proper name for them?? Are they expensive - god I sound such a novice at this lark!! Have just had a truffle and it was dilicious - what a lovely evening treat!

Here's the cheapest place to get them at the moment Mandz. They are called PSYLLIUM HUSKS ... the website below has a bit more info on them. If you need any more info then please feel free to shout :)

Dont forget to let me know about porridge

23 lb lost in two weeks (amazing)

It arrives really quickly from Healthspan-two days to me and I live on the Isle of Wight. I had stupidly bought the capsules before but this is much better and you can put in your porridge what you like. I do find though, that I can't get through the entire bowl, so have made half sachets instead

hi all,

Reading all these with interest. :) Can someone tell me how to make the porridge please. I like to try different things and this one is new to me.

Thanks!
