Hi Guys! :D:D

This may sound like a totally stupid question..:copon:, But i get weighed on wednesday evenings, and everyweek when it gets to monday I start to get pre-WI nerves and start to worry that i wont get a good loss and feel so anxious before i leave on a wed nite.

So far as you can see Ive done great! Its my 3rd WI this wed and so far im expecting maybe 2lbs loss?. Sounds stupid but I keep worrying that this is too good to be true and kind of "self-sabotage" my positivness and think yeah im doing great but why am I trying ill never get to goal or when i do get to goal Ill put lbs back on!

Is this just silly .. people who have eaten foods whilest doing CD often see maybe a slight weight gain... surely when we stop and start to eat we will put a few lbs back on at least??

You can't not lose weight on the number of calories you're taking in, so there's really nothing to worry about.

They tend to even out, if you get a 2lb loss one week, you get a bigger one the next. Also, scales just show weight, they don't show fat, and that's what you really want to lose. It will fluctuate according to water retention, muscle etc, but on a VLCD you absolutely WILL lose fat every single week. No question about it. You would need more than 500 odd calories just to lie in bed all day without doing anything, your body has to get that surplus from somewhere so it'll use your fat reserves, that's what they're there for.

Try not to worry, it's totally normal though, especially when you've done other diets and are used to having bad weeks.

All you can control is what you do, if you make sure that you stick to the plan the weight will come off. There's no margin for error on a VCLD, they're fab! :D

I think it's just a matter of what you eat when we finish the diet. You have to slowly introduce carbs back into your diet otherwise you do get a big gain.
And as for the weigh in mine cant come quick enough...then again it is my first one...ive done a week today but my CDC cant fit me in til Wed thankfully ive got enough packs til then but i'm dying to get on the scales and find out how much ive lost.
Congrats on your losses up to now youve done amazing!!! x

You've done really well so far, I'm just on day 2 so looking forward to getting the first week over me. I'm sure a lot of people get nervous prior to WI, but if you've been 100% there's nothing to worry about...

As for people eating while on CD, I think I read somewhere about our metabilism being at rock bottom so that would account for weight gain... maybe a more experienced dieter will have an answer.

Putting weight back on again is one of my worries - just have to change my mind set and stick to maintenance when the time comes.

Fingers crossed you've lost more than 2lb on Wed.

I worry too, i think most of us do really, i thinks its to be expected, here we are eating nothing and the very thought of gaining would be horrific, but then we go get weighed, and at sts or a loss is what happens, it really really works, just have faith. your losses prove that.

If you follow the plans properly then there should be no gain.

I dont think you will put weight on if you start to eat properly.
There is of course a programme for this with the steps etc...therefore you shouldnt worry if you are 100%... And you are doing really well btw.. Keep going..There are many success stories and maintainers to learn from, hopefully I will be one in the not to distant future. One thing that keeps me going, and is very obvious but simple is, I know that in 4 months or in 1 year(whatever it takes) the food Im NOT eating will still be there, Pizza, kebab, fruit, salads, choclate everything, healthy or not. I can wait. i know I will be able to be a little naughty with food sometimes once Im at goal, but within reason. CD helps me know where my limitations are. Keep positive. YOU CAN DO IT>>>;)

Yeah im down to 11st 2lbs on my scales I started 12st 5lbs so ive done great in nearly 3 weeks. I think im just wanting this so bad and worry incase it doesnt happen but I know if we stick 100% it will and quicker than any other diet

Thats really true the food will still be there when we stop I just need to stop worrying before WI and accept that some weeks are going to be bigger losses than others. I just give myself a hard time

I get exactly the same nerves, even though I've nearly finished week 3 and have always been 100%. Its irrational that if you've been 100% that you get nervous, but I still convince myself everyweek I won't have lost anything. But then the scales are usually a nice suprise!

I think its just about realising that as long as you stick to the diet you WILL lose weight (even though I haven't quite mastered this way of thinking yet!)

And anyway, a little bit of nerves isn't a bad thing - I just think how much more nervous I would be if I'd cheated. This is enough to keep me on the straight and narrow at the moment!

Keep going - you're doing amazingly well!

I think your losses have been fantastic, and it would be unrealistic to expect such a big loss as your first week again, I think the average people loose is about 1 stone a month on CD - which is more than you could expect of other diets.

I know what you mean about worrying when you start going up the plans when you get to BMI of 25. I was convinced I would put on, but I've followed the plans to the letter and have still lost weight, as my CDC said I would! I'm sure you will be the same.

Best of luck, you're doing great.

Thankyou seeing someone whos lost loads and gone up the programes is great ive never s,w anyone who isnt just on SS or SS+. youve done great i hope it goes the same for me :) I carnt wait to get under bmi 25

I am always nervous before my weigh in! I think it's because I used to be a bit crap when doing SW or WW so dreaded my weigh in's, and the fact that scales haven't been my friends for a loooong time lol! Have lost every time so far, but still feel a bit scared as I step onto the scales :) Hopefully one day, the fear will be a bit less! xx

Hey Amanda..
Just to say your doing really well..
Im on week 13 of ss and I still start panicking on a monday if Im going to lose weight on the wednesday... so far I have lost every week.. if I ever have a 2 lbs loss I do tend to lose more the week after.

Your doing so well keep up the fab work & it will definatley come off.

xxx

I can't say I get nervous really. Of course, I don't really like it if I have a bad week, but I know that I couldn't have changed anything. This is the start of my 9th week and I've been 100%. If I have a really bad week (like this week) it's usually because it's the wrong TOTM, but it evens itself out eventually. If I'd slipped up along the way, then I'd worry-but I figure if I keep going the way I am it's got to come off eventually and there's no point stressing over it.

Thanks Amanda, you'll be under BMI 25 before you know it!

I remember when I started, I saw a post that said to take a positive view of CD, you are retraining your taste buds, learning new habits and getting space to think hard about emotional triggers and overcoming them. The post said if you view CD in this way, rather than it being a prison sentence to get through as quickly as possible, it is much easier. I don't know why, but this touched a chord with me and helped me alot.

By the way, I don't know if you have read it, but there's a great sticky on this forum about measuring success by the scales. It's a great read and may ease your anxiety pre-weigh in time.

Take care x
