Garnell Nutrition Garnell Nutrition Shaker Cup: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Leisure

After being caught out a couple of times being somewhere I didn't have access to a blender I tried to order a CD one of these but they are out of stock at the moment so I found one on amazon. It arrived today and I've just made a shake with it and it's brilliant! All you do is put the water in, add the shake powder give it a good shake and hey presto, non lumpy shake in about 10 seconds! I would definitely recommend it for shakes on the go!

I'd be interested to know what makes it different from the CD shaker (which I happen to think is rubbish as a shaker - I only use mine to blend in) - does it have some sort of thingammyjig inside to facilitate the mixing? Or is it just a cup?!

Ooops! I meant to explain how it worked but totally forgot! haha Well it's got this plastic mesh thing inside so when you're shaking it, it seperates all the lumps. I'm almost finished my shake now and haven't found any lumps at all. I wasn't sure how well it would work but I have to say I'm extremely pleasantly surprised!

I think the CD shaker has a mesh thing too, but I've lost it now (if there was one). I found it so hard to get the lid on and off the shaker that I abandoned the whole idea after about ten minutes, and started blending - never looked back since! :D (If I have to go out anywhere, I just take bars.)

I use the blender if I'm at home but the last two weeks I've been out of the house a lot and I never get enough tetras for that! I prefer the shakes to tetras though actually, the tetras sometimes have a slightly metallic taste. I hate the banana and don't really like chocolate anything so that much strawberry would possibly drive me mad! I don't want to have too many bars either as I find that sometimes they do set off cravings. So for me I think this is a good tool to keep me on track. The lid was fine with me, so I'm going to keep on with it and see how it goes! I did consider a little portable blender thing too but couldn't seem to find one!

I too can't abide Tetras (although I've never tried to make one into an ice-cream - that might totally transform them, lol!). I've never thought about bars causing craving (when I'm at work eating a bar for lunch, I can't worry about craving anyway - 'cos there ain't nothing else there to eat! And when I get in, I just get my soup made and eaten asap.)

I did buy one of those portable shakers (called a 'dressing maker') but I haven't tried it yet. There's a teeny little whisk in it, which I can't imagine being powerful enough to bash out all the lumps, but you never know. I'm going on a half-board holiday in June, so I will probably take it to give it a try (along with a stack of bars too - ideal for the beach! :D).

You can also buy them in Holland and Barrett for £3.99:p has mesh thing in as i use them for protein shakes
