potty training my hamster!

hey guys, just wondering if anyone has bought a hamster toilet and successfully potty trained their hamster? I've seen it on youtube, so it can be done, just my hamster doesn't seem to be picking it up. He may be told old (got him from petsathome rspca rescue bit, his previous owner got bored and dumped him after a year), wondering whether to persevere or not, think give it a while longer as peeing everywhere reeks! xx

we had one that when he was a baby he would do it in a jamjar on its side in the corner of his cage (cheaper than a toilet!) but as he got older he stopped, never did find out why, but i have been told that boy hamsters are messier than girls!! just like humans i guess.

the one we have now sticks his a*se in the air in the corner of the cage and manages to 'shoot' over the side-lovely!!!

that made me giggle! thanks mommyB, thinking maybe he is a bit old, got a new dwarf hamster today, a 4 month old rescue, will try with him. Jam jar idea sounds good, sure there's been a pot of jam lurking in the fridge for a while, so that may just dissappear
