Can snow affect my satellite dish?

So it's snowing like CRAZY here, really thick and got about 7 inches on the floor! My sky has just shut down - it just says "no satellite signal is being received".

Called my friend who lives at the top of the village and she says hers is fine.

Could it be the snow?????

it seems a wasp farting affects ours so i reckon snow would most likely do so too

Hi Karen,

Dish Network FAQ:

If you experience signal loss due to the accumulation of snow and ice on your Dish , gently by hand or with a small broom, brush as much of the snow and ice off as possible. You may want to have an installer move the Dish to a location where it can be easily reached. If this is not an option, there are several aftermarket products available that will reduce the amount of snow or ice buildup. There is the hotshot Dish or a Dish Cover.

Hi Karen

When I lost the signal a while back they said to unplug everything leave for a couple of minutes and plug in. It worked a tread.

Hope you get it back soon.

Hi Karen,

Had phoned Husband and he has got back to me and says leave it alone if you have snow or ice on the dish as it is facing south and the sun will melt it.

No snow or ice on your dish you have a problem:(
