My journey begins.....

Well I have had my baby boy - Rory, and he is gorgeous, one week old today, but life is very busy now with a 15 month old too:4635:. I am exclusively breastfeeding so obviously that is the most important thing at the moment but I am starting my weight loss journey now - slow and steady wins the race, right?
I have started weightwatchers at home, I will join a meeting in a few weeks if I get some time:D

I am looking forward to reading your diaries and getting to know you all

welcome to the boards and congrats on your new little boy :)

how many points are you on in a day? you must get a good amount cause i know you get loads extra for breastfeeding xx

Thank you, I get 30 points but I am aiming to eat between 25 -30 each day, rather than use up that 5 points with junk food if I dont eat it I dont count it if that makes sense.

those extra points are for your little one though so you should definitely make an effort to eat them. If you cant manage them all then definitely aim for 26 rather than 25 (know its only one point but still!) as they recommend you dont save more than that as it'll affect your metabolism x

Firstly congratulations on the birth of your little one:happy096:

I really hope you don't take this the wrong way but is it not too early for you to be thinking about losing weight? I know that we all think about it after giving birth and we all get eager to lose the excess weight but you really should give your body time to adjust, especially when breast feeding. I don't know for definate, but I think the recommendation is to start losing weight 3 months after giving birth. You have 2 young children under 18 months old and I think things may be hectic enough for you without the extra pressure right now. With the extra running around combined with the breast feeding I am sure you will lose weight without the need to diet in the first 3 months. Like I say I don't want to offend you, I'm just a little concerned for you. I remember how I felt when my second child was born, it was hard work.

Thanks, I appreciate your concern and I am being very carefull to eat lots of fruit, veg, protein and carbs. I know it is too early to try and 'diet' im really just keeping an eye on things and aiming to lose weight very slowly for the moment. When I had my first son I ate pretty much what I wanted and gained weight despite breastfeeding. So this time basically I am just trying to be motivated not to eat biscuits, chocolate etc. as they wont really benefit my baby and eat lots of healty food. If Im hungry I eat;) but I do think you are right - it maybe is too early to be hopping on the scales and worrying about weekly weigh ins etc. - think ill just follow it loosly for about four weeks and then come back.

Congrats on your baby boy! Welcome to the boards!!

Congratulations on ur new arrival! And well done for joining the board, when i had my second little boy my brain was totally mush and its taken me nearly 4 yrs to get my head around losing my baby weight! lol

Good luck to you when you do start on ur journey, but I think the above comments are fair, give your body a few weeks to adjust. And BF is the best weight loss tool so enjoy it without the worry of counting points!
