weight not shifting

I've only lost 1 stone 5 lbs since January this year and this week I stayed the same despite sticking to it 100%. I'm not giving up or anything silly, but according to sw lifeline I won't get to target until August next year. I know I've lost a lot since I started originally, but it seems such a long time to go! I think I'll be doing sw for the rest of my life.....

Maybe we'll get more hot weather and I can eat more salads, I'm sure that will help.

First of all, a huge congratulations. You've lost 19 pounds in about 15 weeks, making your weight loss healthy and sustainable. That's a huge achievement and something you should be very, very proud of :happy096: Please remember, doctors recommend losing 1-2lbs a week.

It sounds as if you've hit a plateau - not only in your weight, but in your slimming psychology too. You fell off the wagon last year - was it for the same reason? Are you truly sticking to plan? I had another check of the books a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing how much I'd slipped without realizing it. Also, what about the food you're eating? Do you have the same meals all the time? A shake-up is always good, both for enjoyment of something new and giving the body a:asskick:. Sometimes that's all that's needed to get you going again.

I know you can overcome this. A STS at points in your weight loss journey is to be expected - I think there are very few of us who haven't had one. And you stayed the same an amazing 19lbs lighter than last year. That has to be worth a pat on the back.

Again, firstly feel good about what you've achieved so far. It's no mean feat! You've done brilliantly!

From my experience, unless you're like a couple pounds off target, if you're not losing weight then chances are you may have relaxed your approach to the plan more than you think. I have had to bring myself back into line just recently, and I really did think that I was doing well... but I wasn't really.

I would recommend using the online food diary religiously... and count EVERYTHING. You might be shocked at what you are actually consuming. Little things creep in... just one biscuit... just one spoonful of mayo... reliance on free things like pasta and spuds and not bulking up on veg at meals...

Get your books out, pretend you're just starting out again as if you know nothing about it. Refer to the magazines for recipes, plan your meals, weigh everything, record your syns and HEX's... take nothing for granted. Do this for a week and you will find it a very illuminating experience. I know I did! :)

Thanks girls. I did keep a diary last week, and didn't go over my syns, but I do tend to eat the same things all the time. I'm going to try more red days this week and more salads and superfree foods. Perhaps I'll make some soup instead of munching on quorn sausages!

I fell off the wagon last year after having a foot operation and not being able to go to group. I'm having another operation later this year and mustn't let the same thing happen again.

Slow and steady wins the race! Jim on here lost all his weight over 6 years, but is now keeping it off lovely :)

I to am going slow and steady, into this 3 years so far, keep getting side-tracked, but just maintain for a few months, then get back at it.

We are both going down, and you have lost 54lbs, that is *fab*

Well done on losing so much weight! I reached a plateau a while back, and someone recommended I switch to do more Red days. I used to do all green and as soon as I started doing more red, the weight started to come off again. I now do all red days and have started eating more superfree meals to boost my weight loss further. Sometimes I think the body just wants a bit of a change! Hope this helps - good luck! xx

I think we all plateau at some point. I personally think it's the body's way of trying to adapt to and get used to the new size you've become! Unfortunately for me, I'm veggie, so can't really do red-days. But I can say I plateaued pretty much for the same length of time as you have, but this week, I lost 2lbs! I'm ecstatic! So, eventually my body sussed out that I wanted it to carry on losing weight, and it did!

I completely agree with everyone else. They're all right. Don't lose sight of how fantastically well you've done so far.

Stick at it x

HI,

It's a good idea to mix your food up a bit, will give your body a shake up and might be what you need to kickstart the loss again.

Try to get in as much super free food as you can, with the weather warming up, all that lovely fresh fruit to munch on yum...........

Good Luck and I'm sure the scales will stop being so stubborn soon ;)

Firstly HUGE congrats on losing so much already!!!

Agree with everyone else here, mix things up a bit, weigh/measure all your HEs and syns to make sure little extras aren't creeping in.

How about filling in a SAS log? One of the others in my class did this when she'd stayed the same for a while, writing down every time she ate: how she felt etc.

Try a new recipe every day/other day. Go through your books and try things you've never made before.

Good luck, it will come off and all those lbs already lost won't ever come back :D xx
