To stay on SS or move up???

Hi Guys

Great forum and great support.

I have been doing SS for almost 4 weeks and my BMI had dropped from 26 to just under 25.

I have another 13 pounds to go till I am at my goal and so far has lost 12 pounds.

I spoke to my CDC after reading posts on here and asked if I should now move up to the 810 plan as I dont know if I have enough fat in me to sustain losing weight on the SS option. I lost 3/4 pound on SS this week. She said I was best to stay on SS as I would lose weight much faster than on any other step and I could continue with it until I reach my goal.

I kind of want to stay on ss till I get a little nearer target, but after what I have read in previous posts on here, I dont know if it is going to be any more beneficial to me and if it is safe for me to carry on in this way.

Can people please advise what is best to do?

Many thanks in advance, Sarah, xxx:eek:

Yet another CDC giving wrong advice.

Bootle you must be on a higher plan if you have a BMI below 25 as you are not permitted to be on VLCD at this BMI. You should have been on 810 by now having had at least a week of SS+ to ready yourself for the reintroduction of food.

Look at your yellow book for the food options but I think you know yourself you are ready to move up the plans.

Best of luck.

Alison

Thanks Alison

That's exactly what I thought, I look at the book and think move up, but the info I'm getting from my CDC is not the same.

I did start SS+ for 3 days in preparation for 810 but am now back on SS after her advice. I got weighed on Monday and went back on to SS yesterday as she advised. I think I am best getting back on SS+ today in preparation.

Just hope things don't slow down too much more especially after a 3/4 pound weight loss this week. x

Yep, you definitely need to be on 810. It's not to do with the amount of fat, more to do with needing more protein.

As you get closer to goal, you start losing a higher proportion of lean mass.

You may or may not lose the weight quicker on SS, but what sort of weight is more important. Less muscle= harder to maintain and more flab.

So, move up to 810 and you may find your losses get better. Some people do. It can kick start things again. Plus the added benefit of knowing you are losing more fat than on SS.

Ideally move through SS+, but I know many who move straight to 810 without a problem.

No bother party girl, its nice to hear advice from KD and I was wondering exactly the same thing.

I am moving up using SS+ this week, I am finding it bliss and cant wait to start 810 next week.

Thanks for your help KD, I certainly dont want to lose muscle, I would much rather do it properly and lose weight slower.

Can I please also high-jack the thread to ask KD a question along similar lines? My BMI is 25.98 - should I be on 810 now? By my calculations I still need to lose another 5lbs before I'm a BMI of 25 exactly.

At 25.8 you could SS+ for a week then move up preparing your body for the extra food.

If you are already BMI 25 or under do a couple of days of SS+ 3 plus a 200cal meal then move onto 810.

No one regardless of age, gender or race should be on less than 810 calories at BMI 25.

Thanks Linda - looks like no more SS for me then. This week have been on SS+ anyway so will stay on that, then move up.
