.. but for future reference, don't cook it! Yes it is high syn, but the oils in it are very healthy oils, so a little bit every now and then is good for you.
An avocado (full name avocado pear) is a stone fruit, although more commonly eaten in savoury meals.
Cut it in half top to bottom (there is a very large stone in the middle, cut around it) and pull the two halves apart. The stone will stay in one half - put a knife into it to twist it out (you could plant this and grow an avocado tree, but thats another story).
use a desert spoon to remove the skin - you should find the spoon fits just next to the skin - usually easy if it is ripe. Then slice or dice and eat fairly straight away as it discolours rapidly:
