right what am i doing wrong i have mixed a tin of chickpea dahl with egg and onions what else do i use to mould them into shape in our meeting that was all the ingredients and was told to mould into shape but its like slop and wont hold shape any ideas please

That happened to me the first time I made them too, I reckoned there was too much water still in with the chickpeas & potatoes that I used so when I made them last time I made sure everything was really dry before I put it in the bowl & I only used a little bit of egg at a time & they came out fine

I have made the Bombay bhaji's before and they are scrummy:

Fry Light
1 Onion finely chopped
6oz cooked and chopped potatoes
8oz canned chick peas (drained and shelled)
1 beaten egg
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp of bombay mixed spice (I couldn't find this so I used curry powder)
1 tsp mixed herbs
Salt and Pepper

There is also a raita recipe to serve them with:

1/2 cucumber (chop and put in a colander and sprinkle with salt - leave for 30 mins, dry well and transfer to a bowl)
4oz LF natural yogurt
4 chopped spring onions

Add the yogurt and spring onions to the yogurt, chill until ready to serve.

For the bhajis:

Using fry light, fry the onion for 5 mins until tender, transfer to a bowl, add the potato and chick peas, mash together, stir in remaining ingrediants and form 20 small balls.

Arrange bhajis on a baking tray, bake gas 7 for approx 15 minutes and serve wiht the raita.

I have tried these and they are gorgeous - even my husband was a fan. I'd definitely do them again!

they sound lovely, are they free on a green day or an EE day? Can't see anything in the ingredients that would stop them being free
