jUST TO SAY HELLO, BEING NEW AND ALL...!

Hello all, just wanted to post a quick thread, as i've just joined today.
My name's Mick, i'm a 40 yr old brummie, married, and living and working in Warrington, Cheshire.
I have struggled with weight issues over the years, and having a sedentary job sat in an office all day, i decided that hitting 40 should be a big motivation in trying to shift some of it, and hopefully keep it off, with a combination of exercise, sensible eating, eventually, and the support of a forum such as this one.
I'm on day 4 of the sole source plus program, having previously done the CD about 20 yrs ago.
Ideally, i'd like to lose around 4 st in total, to take me down to 14 st, altho i know it's one step at a time, just can't do it any other way than that, but hopefully, support and encouragement will be available!
:thankyou:

All the best to everybody

Mick

Hey Mick!
I'm new on here too so i thought I'd say hello, I signed up yesterday and I'm due to start the CD for the first time on Monday. Quite nervous but also a little bit excited too :) How was your experience of CD before?

hey dita, thanks for stopping by, last time i did the CD was a few years ago, but i do remember it working for me while i was on it - i think i did about 6 months on and off. I do find it hard the first couple of days, to be honest, even having cut down on the carbs beforehand, as the cravings do remain, but i don't feel hungry as such, i think it's just the mechanics of eating that i miss to start with, but i am determined to do it with no excuses this time!
The biggest problem i have is coming off the coke (fizzy stuff, not powder lol) as the caffeine withdrawals do give me a headache, but once over that, i don't feel too bad. Also, i'm drinking at least 4 litres of water a day, so dehydration shouldn't be a problem.
Let me know how you're finding it too, as i think it affects different people in different ways. I'm on day 4 of my first week, and am due to be weighed on monday, hopefully having lost some, which will be the motivation heading into week 2.

Hi Mick and welcome to the board mate. How did a Brummie end up in Warrington then?

hi Jim, it was to do with a woman - isn't it always lol. was in Wigan for 2 yrs when i first moved up, then across to Stockport for 5 yrs when i met my wife, and as i work in Warrington, i got sick of the 80 mile a day round trip i was doing, so we moved over here.

mind you, i still get down to villa park for the home games, and im originally from Erdington, which im sure you know pretty well!

That's the truth mate. I'm a Rugby man myself but all my mates are Villa fans Mick, except for one token bluenose. :D

lol, im sure he's a good lad, even if his taste in football teams is questionable! :D then again, i am biased of course...

thanks Irene, i'm sure i can get to where i want to be, and i know i can find answers to just about any question on here, which will be invaluable

he is Mick, gets a lot of stick though. :D

Jim, not surprised at that at all mate - north brum isn't their natural habitat usually, but im sure he takes it all in good fun :)

I think he comes from Northfield originally Mick. So, how are you doing then mate?

that explains it then, Jim, from south west brum to north east lol. I'm ok mate, got my first weigh in at 7.45 pm tonight and i am looking forward to it, as i have stuck to the SS+ and not deviated at all.
It's got easier once the first three days were out of the way, and i'm now on day 8, so i do expect to have a positive weigh in, which then helps continue the motivation.

must congratulate you on your ongoing maintenance, having read a few of your posts. i was comfortable on the atkins about 4 years ago, and did it for about 10 wks, but didn't have the mindset to stay on it - got married and bogged off to florida for 3 weeks, and then didn't resume when i returned!

OK, good luck then, I'll look forward to seeing a good weight loss post in the morning then Mick.

FIRST WEIGH IN 27.4.09...

Just back from seeing my CDC for my first weigh in after starting SS+ on 20.04.09. Am absolutely chuffed, as i've lost 9.25 lbs after 8 days of following it properly!
The main thing is feeling a sense of achievement, and it is giving me the motivation to continue in the same vein. Makes the day 3 carb shakes seem worthwhile looking back lol, and i don't plan to falter, as i am now feeling the benefits, and not feeling in the slightest bit hungry :)

i think i've posted this in the wrong section - i do apologise!
