Hi Guys

I am on day 2 of Xenical, so far so good.

I would like a few opinions on my diet if possible please...

Breakfast - 70g dorset cereals porridge (berries) with skimmed milk and tsp honey. 100gm Pineapple

Snack - 200gm Strawberries

Lunch - 50g light mozarella with 4 tomatoes, 1 sun dried.

Snack - 200gm pineapple

Tea - 150g Salmon with stir fried veg (loads) cooked without oil.

Desert - 1 muller light

Other snack - 1 single go ahead biscuit from a 3 pack

20gm licourice.

I am concerned I am eating too much fruit??

Is there anything I am missing please?

Your opinions will be great - thanks!!

Julie :)

Hi Julie, your food plan looks ok. Couple of things though, the cereal is just slightly over 5% fat, but you should be ok, I would double check the light Mozarella though and the Salmon. Salmon although full of healthy omega 3 and 6 oils, is still quite high in fat when you are also taking Xenical.
A general rule of thumb is that your diet should consist of foods that are 5% fat ( that is when you read food labels, you are looking at total fat content, and you want no more than 5 g of fat per 100g of food product). . And also that your meals should be no more than 15g of fat.
As long as you are eating at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day I wouldn't say you were eating too much fruit :)

Thanks

Thanks for your quick reply.

Mozarella is 10gm per 100 but as i only eat 60-70gm then thats a 10gm total eat for that meal?

Salmon was slightly over at 9gm per hundred but i guessed that as the fish made up about 1/3rd of my meal and nothing else had fat in it overall the total came to just 9gms of fat - is this correct?

I suppose what I am saying is if I ate a lump of lard that equated to 15gms of fat and nothing else with fat content for each meal would this be ok? (extreme I know but need to get this right in my head) I hope you understand where I am coming from?

Thanks for bearing with me - ive had no funny poo's and dont expect to but i have been popping a lot lol!!
;)

Everyone is different, but the Mozarella is twice the percentage of fat that Xenical recommends you have ( 10% fat as opposed to 5% fat), same with the salmon Julie.
You are right in that the total fat you are eating is 10g,but its also the percentage of fat in that 10g that also can cause the side effects too.
As I said, we're all different, and we can only try and if you get no side effects, then fab, but if you do, then you need to re adjust what you are doing :)
One thing I've found invaluable is keeping a food diary. I record everything I eat and the fat grammes in everything too.

Great, I did write down everything I ate yesterday incase i get side effects then I can track what it was that brought them on....

Would I have experienced anything by now if i was going to?

Thanks again!

Again everyone is different lol I never had any side effects when I was on the tabs, but I know that for some people it happens pretty quickly, say within a couple of hours, some people its the next day.

Hi there & Welcome :)

I am also new to Xenical (on day 3) and so far no problems.

I would agree with Ali though that you`re eating more fat than you should with the cheese and salmon - You`re braver than me!!

I have found cod and haddock to be low fat if you want some fish? I also found in Tescos today some "Salmon burger" thingies that were 4% so I will have that tonight with salad.

I am keeping a food diary in my blog if you want to see what I am eating.

Hiya, i have been on xenical for a week now and have had no nasty side effects and i feel fab already!!
Today i had an
-omlette for breakfast i used 1 egg and chucked in peppers mushrooms and onions- i then had a muller light yoghurt with chocolate sprinkles and dipped strawberrys in!!

-lunch i had granary bread with tuna salad in, i used some extra light mayo in there too, and i had a skinny cow chocolate ice cream after

- dinner i had a weight watchers ham and pineapple pizza with a salad and a weight watchers frozen dessert

plus i am now able to drink 2 litres of water a day!!

Hi,

I would recommend no more than 1 medium egg as although these contain good fat, 100g of raw egg contains 11.2g of fat, which is more than double the 5%.
