HELP - strange bedroom smells

Watergirl

Rock Solid
I'm hoping that someone else has had this problem. Since I've been SS-ing I can smell food so much more.
The worst thing is the smell in the bedroom in the morning which comes from my bf.
If you can imagine a house full of blokes having all eaten a curry and then passed out without opening a window...it's like that.
When I am eating the same food as my bf obviously I don't even notice it, and he can't smell it at all.
It's knocking me sick though. I've tried opening a window throughout the night, but it doesn't help. The other option is sleeping in the other room which I don't want.
It's costing us a fortune in mouthwash - for him!

You can probably imagine what I thought when I saw the title of this thread, lol!! :8855:

(And I don't think I was too far wrong, either?! :D) I've found that since starting CD, all my senses seem to have got a bit keener. Our brains tell us "food is goooood!" so that's a problem obviously - but food pongs coming off OHs? Oh dear! :jelous: (I blench a bit whilst walking past the cat tray, but not past the hubby!) Presumably, he's smelling of curry because that's what he's eaten? I think I would suggest this:

  • try and get him to stay off spicy food while you're dieting
  • get him to shower/bath before bedtime (esp. hair)
  • don't keep dirty clothes in the bedroom overnight, fling them straight into machine or just get them out
  • keep opening the window at night
  • get one of those Glade plug-in things for the bedroom (they can be strong but you can adjust the strength)
The more I write, the more I'm thinking that this is your bf's problem rather than yours! It's just that you've never noticed before. Hmm - diplomacy needed here, methinks! :flowers:

I have the exact same problem, except the smell seems to come from EVERYTHING. Nothing smells fresh- a bit like day old clothing. I change my sheets every other day as I can't bare to get in bed unless they smell fresh. My h2b is getting sick of me shouting at him to make sure he changes his undercrackers before bed too! I've also moved the laundry bin from outside our bedroom door. I thought I was going insane, so glad I'm not the only one :)

OMG !!!!! Thought it was just me !!! All I`ve done for the last few weeks is walk around moaning about smells !!!

I`ve even had hubby drag washing machine and dishwasher out coz I was convinced something was leaking and making a damp smell !!

The litter tray is slung in the garden as soon as I get up and I`ve spent a fortune in plug ins !!
On the plus side, when I run a bubble bath, the smell is gorgeous !!!!!!!

The other problem of course is that most men are basically slobs - now is our chance to get them into line!!

Thank God!!! It's not just me. I agree it's a heightened sense of smell.
When my bf got back from work the other night he told me he'd stopped off for a bite to eat. I said, "well I'm glad you didn't have a KFC cos that would've killed me."
He said, "how do you know I haven't had a KFC?"
I said, "cos I'd smell it at 10 paces!" :D

Normally I'd agree that it could be a him problem. However, he's probably cleaner than me (not that I'm a greb :p). Plus, he's not actually eating curry it's just like that sort of smell.
In fact he had chicken in a tomato sauce last night and omitted the garlic for my benefit.......still stank in the morning

I feel like I've turned into some sort of strange superhuman that can smell food for miles. My bf joked last night that one day I might crack and he'll find me crouched in the garden with various entrails hanging out of my mouth like some kind of crazed vampire
