Feeling a bit disheartened

Hello
I'm so glad I found this site as I am feeling a bit disheartened. I joined SW 7 weeks ago and have only lost 5lbs up to now! My loss has been up and down:

Wk 1 - 1/2lb gain
Wk 2 - 3lb loss
Wk 3 - 2lb loss
Wk 4 - 3lb gain
Wk 5 - 2 1/2lb loss
Wk 6 - 1lb loss
Wk 7 - stayed the same

I'm not finding it difficult sticking to the plan and I am regularly reading the SW books to check I'm doing things right. Some people have lost in week 1 the same amount as I've lost in 7 weeks and I can't help but feel a bit fed up about it! I just feel that I need a bit of motivation to stick with it. I really do like the plan and want it to work because unlike other 'diets', I do feel I can stick to this. The only thing I don't so is use all my syns but now I am too scared to use them in case I gain!

Any advice would be very welcome.:(

Mine's not shifting, it's been going up and down since the beginning of March, but it's generally because I'm naughty at the weekends. Do you have much to lose? How about posting a food diary, and we can all see what we think. Maybe you're not eating enough. Good luck, and don't compare yourself to others!

Well, in something like 11 weeks, I've lost 10 pounds and I'm chuffed to bits. That's 10 gone and never to come back (I promise this time). Experts say to lose between 1-2lbs a week for consistent and long-lasting weight loss.

How much do you have to lose? Sometimes, if it's not much, that can have an effect on your WL. And do you do enough exercise. Eat less, move more. Boring, but it works.

Don't be disheartened. You're five pounds lighter and that's worth being happy about. What did you do different on your gain week to your loss week? Is your STS down to TOTM (Sorry, I can't tell from your name, but I presume your female)? Post a food diary and give us some info to help.

But keep going. I bet next week you have a big loss again.

Hi,
Sorry you're feeling a bit low.
One thing that stands out to me is you're not having your syns. I've found when I don't have mine, it actually stalls my weight loss (reported by many others on here too), it is very hard to get your head around, but do have them, make sure you have between 5-15. I normally have around 70 over the week, sometimes more, sometimes less. But do have them. If you are doing this for life, you need to incorporate them now. It also makes the plan all the easier as you have that extra flexibility.

Post your food diary and we can all see if anything sticks out :)

Hiya,

Write a food diary! I tell you now... it worked for me. In total I have 23lbs to lose for my 1st target, I might go a bit lower. I lost diddly squat in the 1st week and I was really upset about it... I wrote a food diary, with everyone's help on here and in my 2nd week I lost 2.5lbs! Please try it, it really does help.

Also as Harrie says - Eat less, move more! That works too xx

I am losing a lot slower this time than any other time when I have been on SW or WW. But I don't mind. It is in the right direction.

My little sis is also doing SW. She has lost 6lb in a similar amount of weeks to you. I think it comes of us all differently.

Doing a food diary on here is a great idea. We can all see where we can help you then :)

Good luck xxx

Thank you so much for your responses. I think doing a food diary is a great idea - maybe I am going wrong somewhere and it will be obvious to someone else! I am also going to try and incorporate more syns into my meals, or have the odd G&T!!

I have 24lbs to lose to take me down to 10st 7lbs which is a weight I have been confortable at before and found easy to maintain - until I stopped smoking!

I do feel more positive now as you are right, at least the scales are moving in the right direction.

Thank you for re-motivating me!!

You have very little to lose compared to some of us, so 5lbs is really good!

I am so glad you feel re-motivated. Please keep coming back to talk on here. It is a great place. And defo try the diary on here. It helps a lot just to see it yourself. But feedback from others can help no end too.
