I failed - I just can't do Total Solution!

Always Struggling...
As the title of this post says, I failed! I tried to stick to Total Solution this week and managed it for one day. One other days, I ate one or two Atkins bars.

The thing is I don't know whether I was physically hungry (my stomach wasn't rumbling) or whether my brain was telling me that I wasn't eating enough food. I suspect it's a psychological thing. I couldn't stick to 3 packs per day.

I am going to try 3 packs per day with a low carb meal from now on. I have changed my goal weight from 10st to 10st 7 lbs because I feel like this is more realistic. It's given me a boost to see that I "only" need to lose another 18 lbs to get there (rather than having to lose another 25 lbs to get to 10st - was very demotivating!).

So I am still hanging in there diet-wise, just not on Total Solution!

Not sure what to expect on my weigh in on Friday. This week has been varied. I took day 1 off dieting. Days 2-5, I spent trying to do Total but cheated with Atkins bars some days. Day 6 & 7, I am going to have 3 packs and a low carb meal.

Hopefully I will still lose weight....

PS: I have also been very emotional this week. My best friend of 18 years and I are no longer. We fell out officially today. I spent most of this morning in tears, but I am ok now. The break up was mainly due to me not spending enough time with her during my diet. I really needed time to myself to get my head together. It's sad, but it's over. :cry:
 
Firstly Mathswiz you havent "failed" just look how much weight you have lost!

In regards to struggling on Total I know how you feel as I just can not get past day 4 without eating then I cant sleep as I'm beating myself up over it! I didnt even weigh myself this week at Boots as I know I put weight on (my mum's scales said 1lb) I keep going back to it as I am determined but its sooo hard and dont know how Sarah P has done it. I have tried the working solution but I felt like I wasnt losing weight on that and wasnt sure I was having the right amount of carbs. You dont have to stick to 3 packs on Total, you can have 4 which I am doing but if you think you will stick to it more on Working then move up to that as Sarah said she didnt notice much diff in her weight loss. I think you will still lose weight this week tho as what you have eaten isnt that bad.

Sorry to hear about your fall out with your friend but if she's a real friend you will make it up.

We'll have to become dieting buddies that keep each other going!

you've had a really good loss so far and not long to go so keep up the good work :)

I'm sorry to hear that you're finding TS hard as well, but I am relieved to hear that it's not just me who find it's a struggle! :)

I know you can have 4 packs on TS. I tried that as well. I think I just missed eating food!

So the scales say you have put on 1 lb? Don't worry about it. Is it TOTM? Might be water retention? I remembered when I put on 1 lb near the beginning of my diet and I was gutted. I stuck to it 100% for the whole week and put on 1 lb?! It was water retention and I lost 4 lbs the following week. Trust me, it will even itself out!

I don't know how Sarah stuck to Total Solution for 10 weeks either! Sarah - please explain how you did it!! He he he! :D

I am going to do Working Solution now. I feel better knowing that I will have food in the evening. I don't mind replacing breakfast, lunch and snacks during the day but I like to sit down and have a meal in the evening.

I'll do a full week of Working Solution next week and let you know how I get on. :)

Today has made me think about how fragile relationships are. One fall out and it's all over.

I'm definitely going to keep going until I get to goal! So will you! We'll get there eventually!

No my weight gain will have been everything I ate at the weekend! I didnt binge like I usually do but pizza isnt good!

Good luck with the Working Solution. Have just read your blog and it just sounds like me! WE CAN DO IT!!! :girlpower:

Lisa, I totally agree with Flumpy that you haven't failed! I felt like this when I went from Total to Working, but I just didn't have enough energy myself on Total and had bad headaches. What you have eaten isn't that bad at all. But if you are missing food, then Working solution is for you!

You should be very proud of what you have lost and you can push on from here!

I only did 4 weeks on total. I suffered with headaches, so moved onto Working. I was also missing food badly. Do you have the solutions booklet with the working solution info in it? If not mail the Exante office and ask them to post you one.

It's a great idea for both of you to become diet buddies. It will help you both.

If you guys want to see the kind of things I eat, hop over onto the Atkins board and check out the What Are We Eating Today thread. I post my meals on there. You can also join in on that board if you are up for food talk. Quite a few people are away now, but it's generally a really good and friendly board.

As for your friend, I think that's really sad that she has "ended" your friendship. As time goes on our lives change and sometimes you don't spend as much time together. It's no reason to end a friendship. Have you tried talking to her? Do you think it's because she can't handle seeing you lose weight and grow in confidence? It would be a shame if you can't stay friends. Try not to let it get you down now though, as it will destroy your pleasure in losing weight. You are doing so well!

I think Working Solution is probably better for me. It's similar to my Celebrity Slim diet. I am gonna use the Exante products though cos I like the fact that they do not have additives in them.

I only did Total Solution for about 10 days. I can't describe the feeling, but towards the end of those 10 days I just didn't feel myself. I got headaches as well which I don't normally get.

I've got the booklet on the Solutions. I think I know what to eat on it so it's just a matter of getting down to business! :D

Yes, it's a shame. I don't really know what the real problem is really. I have to admit that I haven't been all that sociable since I started dieting this year. But I really needed some time to myself. I was so depressed about my weight I'd avoid looking in the mirror. I just didn't want to see myself and I didn't really want to be seen by others. Now that I am 21 lbs lighter (hopefully will be even lighter in the future :) ) I am more confident about myself. I am on my way to goal weight and I am happy I've finally done something about it!

I'm not going to let it get me down. Just going to soldier on and get to my destination! :D

Can't wait for my dinner tonight!!! Food...finally!!! I can have food!!!

To give you some hope about the working solution, I have lost 30lbs in 9 weeks on that solution. I know I had lost more to lose than you from the outset, but you can see that you can shift your 19lbs on that and it shouldn't take you too long.

Just shout if you are unsure about anything.

You really have inspired me now! I can eat food AND lose weight!!! Ha ha ha!

If I aim to lose 2 lbs per week, I will be able to get to goal in about 9 weeks which is not a long time really. That is....if I haven't gained anything this week!

Yep that's a good way to look at it. When I started Exante I planned to do 12 weeks and shift 4 stones. I figured 12 weeks was nothing, considering how long I had been overweight for. And here I am now doing another 8 weeks at least. I still have the same view that 8 weeks is no time really.

2lbs a week is a realistic goal to aim for. Some weeks might be more, some less (especially around TOTM). You will be there before you know it! Enjoy your dinner.

Flumpy, if you want to know anything more about what i eat on Working, just give me a shout. I am happy to send info to you if you wanted to try it again.

So could I use the recipes on the website that are up to 400 cals as I was having the omelette then adding a salad and fat free dressing. Is that allowed? How much carbs are allowed? Thats what confused me. Do you still go into ketosis on Working?
 
I would check out the allowances in the solutions booklet flumpy. I work to these. I think the recipes on the web are more for the simple solution, but am not sure. If you stick to having fish, chicken, pork, prawns etc and a selection of veggies or salad you will be fine. (No carrots, root veggies or tomatoes though).

I tend to eat the equivalent of a cereal bowl full of veggies everyday.

Have a look on the Atkins board and find the vegetables thread and you wil see what kind of veggies I eat.

Oh and omlette with salad should be fine. It's low in carbs.

I don't count the carbs, just try to keep it low with the lists of foods.

Ok thanks Sarah. I'm vegetarian so I'll be having quorn and tofu. I presume it will be just quorn pieces I can have and not sausages and burgers etc! This is why I tried to stick to Total as I just dont know what to have that I'm allowed! I've looked at the Atkins thread but arent they allowed fat whereas we arent?

I did Working Solution yesterday and I tested for ketosis this morning and I am still in ketosis! :D

I had some grilled sea bass (actually pan fried in a little bit of olive oil) with a few drops of soy sauce and broccoli on the side. It was nice and crispy!

I'm like Sarah. I don't count carbs but I make sure that I eat low carb foods as part of my meal. I don't really count calories either, just make sure it's healthy low carb food I am eating and the portions are not humungous!

When I was on Celebrity Slim, they had a rule of 10g of carbs per 100g. You can eat foods which had less than 10g of carbs per 100g. Maybe you could use that as a guideline when reading food labels?

I think I will enjoy Working Solution more than Total! I just cannot live without food. And if I can eat food and be in ketosis and burn fat, then why not?! :D

Hi flumpy I'm vegetarian too & thats why I thought Total would be better to do ( not that I've started yet - ordered promo packs x 2 online Mon night & thought they would have arrived by now oh well maybe they'll come today )

I was surprised I managed to eat nothing but 1 bar, 1 shake and 1 soup each day for 10 days. Can't believe I lasted that long! I liked the big weight loss in the 1st week, but don't think I could do it again!

Definitely sticking to having a low carb meal in the evening! :D
