I have just googled 'aspartame warning' and was quite shocked by what I've found, wondered if you would do it too and see what you think

I have stopped using sweetner, I was using it to bake with and drinking diet coke, and eating 4 yogurts per day,I was getting headaches and looked it up and it scared the life out of me, basically it is a poison,I feel so much better now I dont use it,If I am baking I use golden syrup and count the syns. sweetner is in so many products from beans to peas to coleslaw to diet drinks to savory products its easy to overdose on it.

I have gone onto fruit teas , I drink normal tea and coffee, and just have the occasional NAS drink, very weak, and the odd diet coke, did you have any side affects?

I'm trying to do the yeast free diet and I'm not supposed to have sweetener or sugar it's very hard.I have a lot of herbal teas and the occsional coffee with one sweetener but very few diet drinks. I think that the dangers of aspartame should be addressed more, definitely with slimming world because so many free foods contain it.

Yes I agree , they actively encourage you to eat diet yogurts till they come out of your ears and I think they were my biggest problem. All their recipes are made with sweetner, never a word about the dangers of heating sweetner and what it does to the product.

i made their mousse the other day and it contained lemon rind and juice, raw egg whites, sweetener and gelatine, it was nice but what nutrition is there in it? I have just bought myself an easiyo yoghurt maker from the health shop because the yoghurt you make with it contains no sweetener or sugar and is full of friendly bacteria.

I can't have aspartame in it as it gives me a nasty after tase and headache and if I'm *really* unlucky I'll get a belly ache as well

I've seen a documentary about it, and it's very worrying. I haven't had any side effects from it, but like you say, it's in everything and very hard to avoid. I only drink diet drinks occasionally and stick to tea, cocoa and water.

My hubby is really hot on this subject and been warning me about it for years, somehow the desire to lose weight made me happily ignorant but it is a worry.
He contacted the government over and over about pulling it off shelves and only now are they starting to put warnings on some things. It's actually illegal in many countries.

Thats interesting that it is illegal in some countries, more warnings should be given. We are all programmed to want to comsumme 'diet' friendly goods and just assume that it is all safe. When I read that it turns to methanol when heated which is related to embaling fluid and stores in the body I knew I had to stop eating it. Maybe we should start a campaign with SW to promote awareness
