Been on this diet since late 2008 and not achieved anything lol, I lost weight at first, then gained over xmas, then lost a stone, and gained it back again now.

Im just not getting it, I dont go to a class as it's hard to get out with kids etc, but I know the diet and the principle, but I get so bored of it all. I just dont know what to do, I was dead set to be thinner for summer, and Im not, if anything probably heavier, I wont weigh myself as scared of the results, I get sick of the same foods, and a lot of alternative ingrediant taste bad, whats worse is I hate quorn etc.

I end up living on green days and pasta n sauce, rice and eggs, mullerlights, and mug shots, it gets so boring, red days consist of the same boring grills, bowyers sausage, bacon eggs and mushrooms, sounds great but I am so stuck in a rut with the same foods, anything else just seems too much hassle.

Need to get back on it tomorrow, already screwed up today with jammy dodgers and cereal lol

We have a treat every Saturday, a normal tea and some goodies afterwards for the TV, we try stay on track in the week but eat too much free foods, they say there is no free food limit but there is, as were proof lol, we gained weight.

Hey chuck...

I don't mean to sound harsh, but your head needs to be in the right place to make it work for you. There's a big difference between wanting to lose weight, and actually doing it.
It's not compulsory to go to classes, plenty of people don't and do it right, but it takes extra motivation and dedication. You need to know the plan well (and get support here, of course!).
You need to spend some time lavishing attention on yourself! Plan what exciting, tasty meals you can have (they needn't be complicated) so that you don't get bored. Make the most of the superfree fruit and veg which will help speed your weight loss along.
You haven't screwed up if you've had jammy dodgers and cereal! Doing something like that happens often for loads of us - you count the syns and move forward. Get straight back onto plan immediately, don't wait for tomorrow! You'll just end up doing more damage that way.
You can have your treats and goodies, and 'normal' meals but you MUST syn them or make sure it falls within plan. You'll be surprised what actually does. Plenty of us allow ourselves a meal or day off, but those who do the best are those who syn it all, plan for it, and know that their treats are not going to damage their weight loss.

If you lost a stone at one point, you can do it. You just have to think of it as a way of life, not a diet that's a temporary fix.

As I say, it might sound harsh, but if you want to do it, you need to get stuck in properly!

:)

You're bored and you feel deprived and so you come off plan and then think you've blown it. I've been there....

Helli is right. Your head needs to be 'in the zone' for it to work.

There are loads of easy recipes out there for both red and green days.
How about an Extra Easy day or week? That way you can have the best of both worlds..a spag bol with real mince, for example!

Ill look into easy plan but may stick to normal plans, I think I need my head in it better like u say.

What would you guys say the 5 most important things are when doing SW? 5 top tips so to speak, something I can think about in more depth.

Hmmm...5 most important things?

Well, for me...

1) Having my head 'in the zone'
2) Going to class (and staying) every week
3) Knowing, more or less, what meals I'll be eating in the week and shopping only for those meals
4) Buying, and reading, the SW magazine for recipes and inspiration
5) Having free snacks in the house to scoff on when I want to nibble (grapes, bachelors rice etc)

Something my consultant says in class and I keep on repeating to myself is: "Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels!"
Next time you're reaching for something "naughty", just say that to yourself and opt for something else or leave the kitchen! Good luck!

SW is simple.................but that doesn't make it easy.

I would try to stop focusing on the negative aspects of the diet and try to concentrate on the positive consequences of sticking to it.

Have you tried EE? There is no need to 'substitute' foods with this- I HATE quorn, but why have quorn when you can have meat?

Good luck, mate

It took me quite a while to pluck up courage to go to SW. I had tried doing it on my own, after all we all know what we should and shouldn't eat, yet we eat what we shouldn't anyway. Lets be honest as we all have a weight problem. We get lazy, we don't want to cook from fresh, it's easier to make a sandwich or just throw something in the oven or microwave, processed food.
For me staying to image therapy is what keeps me going. It's like a little club and we keep going in support of each other, we don't want to let others down or give up.
I think you should try some extra easy, I think you'd find that much easier to stick to. i think what also helps is to make sure you never get hungry. keep stuffing your face with fruit and sw crisps. Make some SW chips, they're lovely. My whole family prefers them to frozen oven chips. Have regular meals. I eat Spag Bol and cottage pie but I use lean mince and syn the sauce if I use a jar. Use sweet potato and normal potato mashed together or carrot and swede mash instead of plain potatoes every time. Tonight I'm having sausages, mash, veg and onion gravy....does that sound like a diet to you??? The difference is half of my plate will be vegetables, cabbage n leek, broccoli and carrots or maybe some peas. The sausages are weight watchers that I get from Tesco's, only 1/2 syn each so I'll be having 3...lol.

The thing is SW isn't a diet, it's a life style change and that is what you've got to get your head around. The thing is think of your kids, show them how to eat healthily thus prevent any weight problems later on in their life. It takes a while for it all to click in your head but don't give up, we all have blips but like others have said, start all over again the next day, don't think you've blown it. Also if you want to 'naughty' foods as treat one day use flexi syns and just cut back your syns the day before, eat free foods throughout the day and then eat your treat....whether it's a Chinese or an Indian etc, nothing is off limits. And don't forget planning is the key. I try and plan my meals for the week when I do the shopping (don't buy the jammy dodgers to begin with) I don't buy any treats for the week then at the weekend I treat my daughter to a cake from the bakers or something from the sweetshop but I don't keep it in the house. Every night I write down what I'm going to be eating the next day, even what snacks I'll be taking to work. This keeps me in control.
Sorry for rambling on but I hope this helps.

please have a look at the recipe section.
you need variety
there are plenty of different meal ideas i could have something different every night of the week i can go 2weeks without having the same thing twice.
i was a terrible cook and when i first started SW i lived off packets of ham and chicken breasts i had no idea that i could make a spag bol from fresh for free with just mince passata and herbs and spices. you need to read into it more have a look at the recipe section i have a book which has got a lot of the recipes from this forum... if it wasnt for mini mins i wouldn't have looked 'outside the box' i would most certainly have given up by now!

keep going and take everyones advice on board

You're right, I've only been on this forum for a week and I've already tried out 3 or 4 new recipes. They're great. Making a pizza using smash for everyone today for lunch. LF mozzarella, bacon, onions, peppers and toms....yummeh, could even have it with SW chips if I wanted to.
