Perhaps we have the opportunity to bounce, but some people are more interested in a soft landing. They in fact thrive on self-pity. The more they fall the more they like it. It provides them an opportunity to complain to someone, usually you. If you ask these people how they are you almost instantly regret asking the question, because they will tell you how bad it is and how tough things are. Their life, one would say, is one big recession. It need not be this way. The fact is that life will present many opportunities for us to learn, every time we fall we enter one of these opportunities. I heard a talk that Les Brown was giving and he said that when you fall down, make sure you pick something up. He also went on to say that in the good times we put it in our pocket and in the tough times we put it in our heart
