What are you proud to have done since losing weight..

dizzy-n-mizzy

Not dieting ATM!
....that you wouldn't have done if you hadn't?

I liked Mags thread: What will you do when you have lost the weight?

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for those that have lost the weight. So that we can recognise really how far we have come and also to act as inspiration to others at other stages of their journey.

Here are a few of mine:

I am developing a real enjoyment of food. I eat food that is good for me and enjoyable now. Instead of punishing myself with large quantites of junk that made me feel as bad physically as I did emotionally about myself.

I have found a renewed love of exercise.

I am taking steps to get back to work after 10 years of being a full time mum.:sigh:

I went swimming with my kids in our local swimming pool whereas before I would only go miles from home where noone knew me.

...will add more later and as I do them. My accomplishments are very simple ones but a huge deal to me.

Maybe yours are more exciting like a parachute jump or horse riding or more everyday achievements like mine. Remember things you wouldn't have done if you hadn't lost the weight.

I plan to add a lot to this thread in time.:D Hope you all do too!;)

Maintained it :D Okay...no big feat, but it's a big one for me:eek:

In the past 10 months I have ...
been down a couple of flumes at a swimming pool (after 18 years of not even going swimming).

I've been on a 'galleon' ride at a funfair ... it involved a bar being lowered across my lap (definitely wouldn't have fitted this time last year).

I started university - no way would I have had the confidence to be a part of that environment at my heaviest.

And hubby has booked me a horse-riding session :D

They are brilliant Debbie, no wonder you are proud!

For me, one of the best thing so far is walking into a room and not being the fattest person there, and not thinking people are looking at me cos I look ridiculous in wat I am wearing!!

I can do more things with Chloe and we have regular races between the car and front door (it rains a lot here!!)

I can run up stairs without getting out of breath

Oh, but I am looking forward to flying home on Wednesday....havent been on a plane since the end of August and am soooo looking forward to fitting into the seat rather than spilling out of it!!!

I love the simple things like enjoying running to the house from the car don't you?

Your other answers are all things that thin people just take for granted aren't they?

Its all about the simple things!!!

Its true that these are all things thin people take for granted...I'm sure theres tonnes more, but my hungover head isnt really working:cry:

just wanted to add something that i miss being able to do. when i was smaller..umm about 8 and a half stones ago (eekk!) i used to be able to sit with my heels against my bum and resting my chin on my knees. u know what i mean, like a tight crouch lol. I really miss that and its the one thing that often pops into my head and it becomes a goal. am i weird? lol

anyways, will hop off thread now as this is for the newly slim and not the newly fat lol. just wanted to add one of my fav skinny things to do :D

xxxxx

I can now cross my leg and tuck it behind the other ankle.........I've always wanted to be able to do this.........yeah, I'm a saddo! :D

Also been ice skating, horse riding and go-karting.......

But the best is walking into a room and people looking for the right reasons and not cos I was the size of a house!

Thanks for adding that Karen! I know what you mean all these little things you don't even think about when you are slim or even 'newly slim'. You have reminded me how depressed I used to feel sometimes when picking up kids toys of the floor as all the bending about made me really uncomfortable and grumpy and I knew it really shouldn't!:(

Don't even think about it now.:)

I will remind you of that goal as the months go on Karen.

Hi Jem!

You have achieved so much. In most ways I imagine being over weight didn't hold you back. :) But you have certainly been making the most of all the new physical activities available to you. I will be interested to hear what you get up to in the future. Are you going to be the one of us to do the parachute jump?:D

Dizzy x

Oh WOW I cant wait to get there, I had to read this for insperation.
Thanx
I will be posting here in a few months

no big feat.....are you kidding????? I have lost weight so many times and always always put it back on usually with extra lbs added.
For me the losing weight is the easy (ish) bit. keeping it off is the one thing that so far has eluded me.

I am impressed you have managed to keep it off....long may it continue. Well done you.

Have sex with the light on!!!!!!!:D

Walk around the house without my clothes on. Before i would always cover up, even in front of the kids.

Take the kids swimming a bit more often without the embarassment of being the biggest there.

Getting up to my office on the 2nd floor quite easily without having to keep stopping :) (and pretending to be looking at papers or in my handbag in case people wonder why I stopped ! )

and never taking the lift especially at work where it is for people with disabilities and I sometimes snuck in out of desperation

OMG - I am so glad those days have gone :D

Well if you've got the man with the bod! You definitely want to leave the light on! :)
