I know i shouldn't have.....

Still Climbing That Hill!
But i did! I got on the scales and it shows a measly 2lb loss :mad: If i was weeks into this id understand but it's my first week and i was expecting more! My WI is tomorrow (monday) so obviously im not gonna lose more than another lb if even that!! Wish id done what i intended to do and do a monthly WI but those scales just seem to shout at me to get on them:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Oh dear. This was what i used to do too. Eventually I chucked my scales at home in the bin. There can be major discrepences between different scales. For example... I am half a stone lighter at my mums house than on SW scales and I recently found that I am 3lb heavier at my brothers!!!

Also.... not everyone has a fantastic first week. I used to help with weighing the ladies in at my group and there were some who would have a small loss or even stay the same in their first week despite following the plan 100% but who would then come back with a great loss in the second week.
Please don't give in honey. Try not to weigh yourself mid-week as it can be severely disappointing (as u now know!). Keep going and remember that even if you do only have a 2lb loss..... 2lb a week adds up to almost 8 stones in a year.

You will be surprised how much your body can change overnight! You could have lost alot more by tomorrow.
Best advice is DONT WEIGH BEFORE YOU SHOULD. :copon:(sorry lol) You arent going to get an accurate reading anyway- so what's the point?
Weigh at the same time, using the same scales and wearing the same clothes. That will be an accurate reading and if it's 2lbs than give yourself a HUGE pat on the back as you lost a whole bag of sugar. Bloody marvelous.:D If you lost more then slap ya hand and say NO MORE WEIGHING BEFORE I SHOULD!! haha sorry if i come across a little blunt but honestly hun best thing you can do is tep away from the scales.
Your doing a brilliant job- your losing weight! Keep it up! xxx:p

You will set yourself up for such a big disappointment and risk of falling off plan if you weigh yourself at home. As hard as it is, it really is best to just get weighed once a week at class. Some people don't have big losses in their first week but do in the next or one after. My friend only lost .5lb in her first week and then went on to lose 6.5lb in her second. I have never lost more than 4lb in a week and on average lose 1.5lb a week so we are all different. Look at the bigger picture rather than focusing on what the weekly scale says. Good luck tomorrow, 2lb is a great loss - you should be pleased.

The others have said what I was going to say already - stay off your home scales, chuck the d*mn things in the bin! They're almost certainly wrong anyway! Don't panic, keep doing what you're doing, and come back and tell us how you got on tomorrow :)

Please don't be hard on yourself, 2lb is great, and you always have overnight. Your scales and the scales at class may also weigh differently. Like the others have said throw away your scales and believe in yourself.

Well i'm going to go against the grain here! I weigh ever mornong on my home scales but I NEVER take them too seriously. I know they aren't the same as the SW scales but I know where I should be on mine.

There is no set amount for a first week loss and although everyone expects a huge loss on week one, it really depends on what your diet was like before you started SW. The bigger the changes you made, the bigger your loss will be. 2lb is 2lb, be happy with that!

Two pounds!!!! Two pounds and you're upset!!!!!????? I've never lost that much in a week :0(

Seriously, two pounds is a good, healthy weight loss. Remember, slowly and surely is the best way to do it. It's much better for your body, your skin has more time to recover, and it tends to stay off.

And I'm sure next week you'll have a great weight loss ;)

2lb is not measly. Go to the kitchen and and pick up a bag of sugar. The bag is 2.2lbs!

It's easy to have unrealistic expectations when you hear of people losing huge amounts. Just remember that it's not important how much you lose your first week but how much you've lost when you reach your target. By that time you won't even remember the first week let alone care about it.

I echo what everyone else has said!

You don't know how much you've actually lost until you step on the scales at your class. Yes, some people weigh at home as a guide, but those who are sensible (which is some, but not all of us!) know that 99 times out of 100 they will be different to our class scales.

I've only ever lost 1 or 2 lbs a week in my whole sw career. I tell ya...I'd be delighted with a 2lb loss this week. That every week would be a stone in under 2 months.

Don't be discouraged. Whatever happens at your WI, the ultimate thing is that you're losing weight, which is bl00dy marvellous and you should be proud of yourself :)

I'd love to loose 2lb every week if I'm honest... 2lb is fab, I'm the sort of person who will never have a big loss even though I have at least 3 stone to loose but I'd be v v happy with 2lb a week x

Thank you thank you thank you everyone, i was genuinely genuinely upset by this yesterday, i just wanted to throw in the towel and scoff something non "diet" friendly!! Thankfully i didn't, i went to bed for half an hour felling very very sorry for myself because i hadn't lost *more* than 2lbs. Had a long thought about things did loads of house work went for a walk did more housework......came on here last night read all your messages, then flopped into bed shattered but happy.
Your have helped me so much, it's amazing how, just some words of motivation, kick up the j-lo and encouragement can do absolute wonders :)
I don't go to class so my official WI are my own scales, i started last Tuesday so am having my WI, so to speak, tomorrow (Tuesday) instead of today.
Anddddd today i am chuffed that i have lost 2lbs, 2lbs is great! fingers crossed it's mabye another lb tomorrow!

That's the great thing about this forum, we are all here to pick you up when you are feeling down. If you are weighing at home stick to Tuesday morning as your WI day and time. Sticking to the same day and time every week will give you a true reading

Hey Huni, as the others have said, a loss is still a loss and its less weight that your body has to carry around!
I gained 4.5lbs this week (stupid TOTM!), so be thankful you've lost!!

xxxx
