WW cooking sauces??

ChellyWellyBoot

I will be skinny again!!!
Hmmm going shopping tomorrow for my refeed food...

Not sure whether to go for the supermarkets own brand light cooking sauces or try the weight watchers ones??

Any one tried them? is there much difference??

To be honest hun, you're probs better off going with the supermarket brand than the WW stuff. WW is good don't get me wrong, but you want to tickle your taste buds with some flavour don't you? Seeing as you're refeeding and you're going healthy anyway, you can push the boat out with a supermarket brand of sauce. That's my view anyway lol. xxxxxxxx

A lot of the WW sauces are actually pretty tasty - honest :)

personally Id stick to supermarket brand in my opinion not much difference between the two except the price you pay cos it says WW on the label

high salt content

Just be carefull with the WW sauces, they add tons of salt. Was a news report about this recently

Personally I would make my own, it doesnt take much longer than opening and pouring a jar, and you know exactly what is in them. These are so much tastier without the additives and E numbers and you can add anything you want.

I read the labels and look for whichever has the lowest carb content. Now you are back in the 'eating' world, I'd try and keep your carbs as low as possible and replace your glycogen gradually.

I agree, especially with tomato based sauces? I get tins of tomatoes form lidl/aldi for around 40p each and when I add onions, garlic, other veg plus herbs it makes enough for about 3 dinners! I also agree about all the 'extras' that go into the WW sauces. If you go for bought sauces, compare the labels and go for the ones with the lowest fat/carb content and least additives. Save your money for your new wardrobe! LOL!

Haha good plan!!

I worry about making my own due to the fat contents and things...

Im not really the brightest bulb in the box and Id more than likely mess it up!!!

So lower carbs over lower fat is the general opinion??

For me personally it is carbs that put weight on. Obviously if you eat loads of fat then you will gain, but if you avoid carbs...you automatically avoid a lot of fatty food....i.e cakes/biscuits etc. For me, I have to eat pots/pasta/rice/bread in limited amounts and I now have brown rice, pasta and bread instead of white.

oooh... See like im switching my bread and pitta bread to wholemeal...

But didnt know there was a difference in pasta and rices???

What do they taste like??

The same if they're covered in sauce! LOL!

sauce wise i would just try a few different ones and see which you prefer, if somethings lower in say fat and calories etc i am more tempted to try that one usuallyand in a way i find a balance on the carbs and fat thing helps as mentioned earlier, although i cant eat brown rice and pasta as i detest them so i have them less if you know what i mean.

I love brown rice now...I'd never switch back to white......it just takes AGES to cook. Cook it for about 45mins and its really tasty. The pasta is fine (to be honest I do prefer white), but I am totally getting away from refined crap!! Plus like Irishmum says, if its covered in sauce it tastes nice. Good luck hun.

Yeah...Im worried about buying them and not liking them!!

And I dont know how to cook rice... Im a boil in the bag girl... Is that even more fatty????

I guess it is all trial and error and ill find out at my weigh in???

yeah you will be finemy moto is simple is safe so keep it simple then you know what your putting in you and can control it easier

In regards to the sauces being tasteless, you could always add your own seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic, etc.), just to make it taste how you want. I'm going to have a go at my own as suggested by Kered, sounds good to me! :)

I usually just fry onions and mushrooms in frylite, or you could even use a teaspoon of olive oil, then add your tinned tomatoes and any herbs you may wish to use. Basil is a very good accompaniement with tomato based dishes and this would be great with fish or chicken.
