New kid on the block (sorry forum!)

I posted the same mesage on the newbie page but wasnt sure if that was right so posted it again here! So apologies if you end up reading this twice!!!!

I have now been doing the cd for 3 weeks and have managed to lose 11lbs up to week 2 and 8lbs for week 3 (admittedly, wk3 I weighed myself as I only get weighed fortnightly and just couldnt wait. Luckily my scales weigh the same as cdc's!)

I am really thrilled with the weight loss! My friends and work colleagues have started to notice which has given me a boost i can tell ya!

Anyway, a bit about myself. I am nearly 30 (June), married with 2 daughters how are 8yrs and 19mths. I want to lose another 3 stone. After spending all my twenties yo yo dieting and getting bigger, I cant believe how I didnt know about cambridge before. If I had I would have done this years ago! Anyway I was fed up with feeling crap, stopping going out and feeling that I was the "fat" friend that I have decided to take action so that I can enjoy my thirties!

Anyway, what a fantastic site and a great source of support.

Well, I am dreading this evening! Twas hubbys 30th on tuesday and tonight we are going out with a group of friends to celebrate! We are going to the dog races and then maybe on to a club later.

My problem is that i havent told any of my friends what I am doing and am worried about what to drink. Can i get away with just having mineral water or should I have a couple of voddies and diet coke?

Also at the races is a "basket" meal which i suppose would include chicken. My cdc tells me to just have the chicken and take the skin off. The thing is I am worried about going out of ketosis but I also want to have a good time.

Why is life never easy?!?!?

Hi Karen, welcome to minimins, you will be in great company on here......we are all aiming to be slimmer.
Any problems or advice you need just post and someone will pop along to help.
I am on Lipotrim, a bit like cd but not as much choice withe drinks or bars. But I dont mind as long as the weight keeps coming off.

hahahah - seriously, nobody's ever going to recommend that you have some vodka diet cokes. You can get away with whatever you want to. You don't have to apologise to people for being on a diet. It it bothers them that you're dieting, then it's probably triggering some guilt in them that they're not doing something about their own health.

If your cdc says have the chicken, then go for it. And have a mineral water too.

If you go out tonight and sink a bunch of vodka diet cokes, I predict that the more you drink the more you'll think "To hell with it!! I want a good time!" Then you'll scarf the chicken, skin and all, finish a basket of chips, finish someone else's chips and wash it down with another couple of vodkas.

Tomorrow you'll feel sick, sore, horrendous and penitent. You'll get utterly depressed if you step on the scales. You're setting yourself up for a really bad Sunday.

Sorry to lecture you, because I know completely where you're coming from. I've picked up the phone to dial a dominos pizza five times in the last two days. I've resisted by promising myself that, for the rest of my life once I'm at my target weight, I'll allow myself two slices of really good pizza with a salad and a glass or two of wine once a week.

But you're fooling yourself if you think it'll be okay if you fall off the wagon tonight - you'll feel rubbish tomorrow. :break_diet: As they say in the cereal ad (was it crunchy nut cornflakes?) - "you must rezeeeeeeest, rezeeeeeeeeest!!"

Hi Karen and a big warm welcome to Minimins - tis a great place to be for help, support, advice & a good giggle :)

Regarding your evening out it's really not a good idea to drink whilst your SSing, it can make you quite ill, your body will not respond well to alcohol after 3 weeks of so few calories. If you can eat a CD before you go out & not eat at all, that's the best way to go, as the chicken, even without the skin could be cooked in fat, and could knock you out of ketosis, making the next few days very difficult and disrupt your plan. The safest way to go is to stick to your SSing but I know that's not always easy, but at least then you know what you've eaten and that you'll stay on track.

If you're not sure what to say to people and don't want to tell them about your diet, just say you've got a bit of a tummy upset, which will also explain the fact you're only drinking water.

Go out, stick to your plan, have a great evening & come home feeling virtuous and a few pounds lighter which be a much better feeling than going out, eating something you shouldn't and having a miserable couple of days to follow.

Well done on your fab weight loss so far by the way:)

Thanks for your replies. I know that you are right! The thing is I dont want to eat or drink but I will feel as though I am letting everyone down ! I know daft isnt it!

Anyway will let you know how I get on

Better to let them down (which by the way, you won't be) than yourself. This diet is about you and for you.

Have a good time :)

I am totally with you on this one Slimmer Trimmer:D Been there myself on numerous occassions:eek:

The bleeding alcohol weakens your ability to resist the grub, that's for sure!!!

There wuld be no harm in telling your friends that you are on medication at the mo and can't drink alcohol, if you wanted to? That should put a stop to any questions you may not want to answer Karen.

What great responses Thanks! I have discussed this with hubby who is totally supportive about this diet. He says that I could drive and then i definately cant drink. Then to tell everyone that I have had an upset tummy. Think that I am gonna do that. Will keep ya posted!

Hi there, welcome to the board!

I have found it to be great here, lots of lovely warm support when you need it, a good giggle, and just lots and lots of people who actually understand what we are doing!

By the way you are doing what I wish I did.... going to be slim before you are 30! lmao, I will be slim and 31 though! I've already had my birthday, but I'll still be 31 when I am done!

Good luck and keep going!

Hey there! Welcome to anover yorkshire lass!!!! I will be arranging a Yorkshire meet very soon, when I get my backside in gear!!! Keep an eye out and good luck for tonight x

How good am I!!!!!

Well last nigh was hubbys birthday do and I took all your advice and followed cd to the letter. I drove to where we were going (which saved a fortune on taxis;) )

I told our friends that i had had a tummy bug so they still dont know i am on the diet (phew).

Felt very virtuous I can tell ya. We went to a club after and I danced the night away and drank loads of water inbetween. It was hard when everyone was eating, I wont lie. The food smelled yummy but the main thing is I got through it!!!

Also, some of the friends that were there havent seen me since I started CD (just over 3 weeks ago) and they were gobsmacked, they said "how much weight have you lost?" and "you look really good" which did my confidence the world of good!

So overall, feeling very smug and proud of myself!

Hi.

I have just typed a thread and for some reason it hasnt worked so retyping it again.

Well I have managed to lose 19lbs in 4 weeks so feeling very pleased about that!

But....... tonight, i fell off the wagon, i had a small handfull of chips! I didnt count them cos i couldnt get em into my gob fast enough! Oh dear.

I cant understand it cos i have been so motivated. The only thing is totm is due and have been feeling tired and fed up for the last few days.

I am not gonna let this stop me getting to goal though. I have put this behind me! Tomorrow is another day. Still, i feel sooo mad at myself!
