Hiya all

I've been stalking you for a while, so I've decided it’s time to come out and say hello!

I've been on Cambridge for a while and have reached a Plateau, so I've decided enough is enough and its out with the milkshakes and in with the meat!

I've read Jim's sticky about starting Atkins and it's a good start, but I do have a few questions if any of you would be willing to help?

Do you need to take anything for constipation? I can't tell you how bad it was on CD, but let’s just say when there were movements... blood was involved NOT NICE!

I'm still in Ketosis from CD, I was just wondering should I still do the 2 week induction? I could just murder a couple of sausages! (do you take the carbs off your daily amount?)

I probably know the answer to this already, but can I mention..... KFC.. BAD I know, but are you allowed any chicken from there or even a BK burger without the bun...... and if you are, is the cheese ok? I know I'm really bad for asking - but if you don't you could easily fall into that little trap!

I know this is REALLY long, but I'm honestly sooooo excited about coming over to Atkins that I'm going to start tonight, right after I see my CD counsellor for the last time tonight. Got some really nice peppered steak with some butter thingy in it from M&S ..... I'm dribbling already!

You should be getting most of your carbs from green veg so you shouldnt need to, I know some of the others use pysilium husks though.

Yep just deduct the amount of carbs from your 20g total. Lidl, tesco, asda all do high % meat = low carb sausages

Humm.. breaded chicken is a no no. I have in emergency got a double cheeseburger type thing (no ketchup) and eaten without the bun

I am a man...... well I was the last time I checked anyway! Hehehehehhe!

I've been trying to work out all the different parts of the diet and how it works, I've got a really old Atkins book where it says you can have as much cheddar and stuff as you want - I think this goes against what Jim was saying in the sticky!

I've also got some 93% M&S sausages - so I'm looking forward to having them for breakfast in the morning! Can't wait!

You are all mad in the Atkins forum - I think I'll feel right at home here!

Ohhhhhhhhh by the way - chocolate! I know I'm not allowed it on the induction - but I was just wondering if the bars have any sort of an effect on the weight loss and would diabetic chocs work as well? I know they have a bit of an effect in the old bathroom department, but I'm sure it'll be worth it! Hehehhehehe!

Welcome I dont know about think oinking lark but oink oink anyway
You can take fibre to prevent blockages. That part is much easier than CD
I started Atkins 2 weeks ago after reaching platea on CD
Ive just lost a pound so far but im thinking my body needs time to ajust
 
Oink Oink. Low carb/ diabetic chocs are best avoided if u can live without them (which I cant) as they do stall some people. They are much better than reaching for the real thing though if you are desperate for something. xx
 
Hi and welcome, this is my 1st wk on Atkins, previously on CD. I am loving the food and have prepared mysef that I might not lose much at begining until body adjusts to eating real food again!!
 
Welcome to Atkins. I swapped over from LL when I hit a plateau with that and I stayed in ketosis without doing induction. If you had problems on CD, it's probably best to keep taking the psyllium husks, at least until you've got a good amount of veggies going.
Lots of people eat the Atkins choc bars or the diabetic ones but it depends whether you can handle them. I'm not sure if they stall me but they certainly make me want to binge and make it hard to stay on the wagon. They stall some people but not others and for some they're a vital treat - you'll have to find out what category you're in.
How long were you on CD and how much did you lose?

just to say hello and to add that i found that the diabetic choc stalled me for sure. that said, i agree with rainbow cookie and would still reach for them rather than the real thing when desperate!

Hi, I have a shake, a soup and half of a bar (total of 500 cals) each day and then have a low carb meal that will consist of around 200g of meat / fish or 2 eggs and lots of the low carb veggies. It works for me but isn't fully low carb, as my packs have carbs in them. I am on around 50g of carbs a day.

Check out the what we are eating thread to see the kind of meals I have.

I just have to say thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I had the steak and blimey..... I could have ate the rest of the cow as well - it was mouth wateringly good! I am sooooo looking forward to my new life and can't wait to get into the swing of things properly!

I think I may be a little confused about this whole carb thing though, can you tell me if I'm right ......

I bought one of those things that measures in cups, so tonight I had ....... 1 cup of spinach, 1 cup of stringless runner beans and 1 cup of asparagus... with my two juicy steaks in a butter sauce thingy ...... is that all ok? Or am I just being silly?

BTW - Jim can hold onto his position as the alpha male - I couldn't imagine having to control all you ladies ...... he's clearly a braver man than me!!!! Heheheheh!
