Hi

I have just recieved my first parcel of Joes Sausages, well packed freezer packs inside still frozen and products nice and cold. Years ago my mum used to make a recipe for devilled sausages which was grilled sausages with this delicious devilled sauce. I have just got the recipe off Mum. Can anyone SW it or syn it? I would be soooo grateful!

1 oz butter
8oz finely diced onion
30g flour
1 level tablespoon worcstershire sauce
1 level tablespoon mustard
1 level tablespoon honey
1 level tablespoon vinegar
450ml water
1 oxo cube beef

method
fry onion in butter in a non stick saucepan add all other ingredients and bring to the boil, whisk, serve over grilled sausages.

I guess frylight the onions, so butter not needed and perhaps half the honey and use a little sweetner.

Does anyone know the syns if I did it this way?

Many Thanks

If you use frylight, the syns are just in the flour, honey, oxo cube and mustard, the flour is about 5.5 syns for 28g (I think), the honey is 1.5 syns, oxo cube 1syn and mustard I'm not quite sure, but that's a total of 8 syns without the mustard!

Ok...if you change the oxo cube for bovril, that would be free. Fry onions in butter frylite not butter (free) and use mustard powder instead of mustard, thats also free.
The only things you would need to syn then, would be the flour and honey (but as you said, try it with sweetner instead.
Im sure someone will confirm the syns of flour and honey though!

thanks folks. So if flour is 5.5 if I use 28g and if I use a teaspoon honey and a bit of sweetner 1/2 syn. Whole lot is 6 and this is to serve 4 it would only be 1.5 syns each and sausages fee so it's pretty low. I will use bovril and dry mustard to keep syns down.
