Help/advice needed

Hey there Ladies and Gents, I normally post on the Cambridge forum but yesterday I had to switch to Atkins, I will give you a bit of background info as to why...My husband is in the Royal Air Force and we are currently stationed in Northern Ireland, the events of the last few days have made it a little uncomfortable to travel round the province, my CDC is about 50 minutes away through some less than pleasant areas and hubby has said he isn't prepared to travel to her for the next few weeks until things (hopefully) calm down a little here (I wholeheartedly agree with him). So here I am, I started Atkins yesterday and am hoping I will stay in Ketosis, when I tested this morning I had so i guess thats a good sign, what I am wanting to know is should I expect any weight gain when first starting as my body adjusts? how big/small should my portion sizes be? has anyone passed between the two and stayed in ketosis?? this is esp important to me as I felt very ill getting into ketosis and don't want to have to go through it again. Also will my weight loss be as good on Atkins (am averaging about 1pound every other day after 5 wks on CD)I'm sorry this is a long post but i've been so confident with CD that it's really thrown me to have to come of it...thanks for your time, Becky xx

Hi Becky.

There are some people around here who have migrated. I'll let them answer your questions.

I suspect you may see a small gain initially but done properly you should stay in ketosis.

I know how you feel about the situation in the province. I served many a tour there. I take it your at Aldergrove, lovely part of the country.

Hi Jim,
Thats right we are at Aldergrove, and i'm thankful for it, it seems to be the safest camp to be at in the current situation.
It's a strange place to be at the moment, I went to Antrim last night to do some shopping in Tesco and the people were very edgy, I pray that this will not get any worse, no-one wants the "bad old days" back eh!

Damn right we don't Becky. I had a 3 year tour in Lisburn, lovely place but not in the early '70's thank you.

I'll bet it wasn't! I mostly feel sorry for the older generation of locals who are petrified, there was a lady on the news last night crying and saying she hadn't slept all night, it brought a tear to my eye...poor people.
Grrrr Bloomin IRA

I know, so much for the peace process. sigh!

Hi Becky

Welcome to the Atkins board.

I haven't fully migrated from packs so will let the others tell you about gains / losses. There are few people who have just recently made the switch.

Just wanted to say welcome and stay safe in these troubled times!

Good luck with Atkins.

Thanks for your reply, it's nice to know i'm not the only one who's made the jump, all be it temporarily.
And thanks for your kind comment, staying safe is one thing I will be doing xx
