Conflicting scales and hand held computer??

Fuffs

This is really the time!
Yesterday when I weighed in, the scales said 3lb loss and the hand held thing read 2.5lb loss:eek:lol. So, the class assistant put it is 2.5lb:sigh:. I did not moan or argue, but back before the hand held, it would have been a 3lb loss. Has anyone else had this??

what is this hand held computer i'm intrigued??x

They have a thing that looks like an ipod now. You get a swipe card that goes in it and stores all your info. Pretty cool, but just confused me yesterday.

I would be really annoyed if my weight loss was rounded up or rounded down!
As far as I'm concerned, if I've lost 2.5lbs, then I want that .5 counted. Why round it up to say I've lost more....or round it down to say I've lost less?
As we all know, every half pound counts when we are trying so hard to lose weight...and what happens if you only lose 0.5 one week? Does that get rounded down to say you haven't lost anything that week?
Crazy!!!!

My class currently weight to the 1/2 pound. The progress bit on the SW website also has a space to put the 1/2 pound in when you key in your weekly weights. I think I would be annoyed if they took this away.

I agree, no matter how small that 0.5lb seems, it is still a loss and would keep me more motivated than if I had stayed the same!

Well, my class counts to 0.5lb. The scales also show the 0.5lb. But, this week the scales said 20st11lb and the computer decided 20st11.5lb. So, I was a little confused. I should have queried it with the consultant, but she was running late and no one really got a chance to say much :(

Okay.... did she wait until the pda which records the weight had "steadied". Sometimes the ladies get on and if they get off the scales too quickly, the pda doesn't record the weight. They get back on and it can then be half a pound different. Annoying yes, but it will show next week as it's got to be on the cusp of changing the weight.

There is a delay between the scale and the pda and the weigh lady must wait until it has confirmed. What does your book say? The pda should only record the weight on the scale, it should not be any different.

I do the weighing at my class and i've never come across this!

I stood still on the scales and she waited for the pda and the scales and pda siad differing weights.

Just emailed my consultant to ask. See what the rules in class are as to which one tells the truth lol

Certainly will do. Still waiting for a reply. But she does many classes, so guessing she may be busy.

My consultant response today :)

"Hi sophie, for us bigger girls the scales cant record the extra half pound on its screen, but the mechanism knows it is there and puts the full weight record on to the PDA so for example if when I weigh in it at say 20 stones 5.5 pounds the scales screen only has the space for 20 stones 5 pounds but the mechanism knows it says 20stones 5.5 pounds really and shows that on the PDA screen so , if the week before I had weighed 20stones 8lbs , the scales would look like 3 off but the PDA would show 2.5 off and this is correct, so we always use the PDA screen info to record your weight, it threw me for a while til I got used to it too!"

I thought the scales had shown 21st 4.5lb on my first W.I, I must have been wrong! lol
