Lemon Juice

Jaycey

Post-Menopausal Maniac!
I've read here that we're not supposed to have lemon juice in tea or anything. My CDC said it was OK to have just a splash, so what I have in the morning is hot water with a dash of lemon juice just to flavour it (also lime juice, which you can buy in Asda). These are the cooking types (like Jif), not lemon juice as in squash, etc. I just can't manage the taste of the tea, hence the hot water (which is supposed to be good for you anyway).

This doesn't seem to be affecting my weight loss, which has been good so far. But am I kidding myself? What's the official line on this?

(PS. I've also been known to add a couple of spots of Lea & Perrins to the blander soups!! :break_diet: How naughty am I!)

it has citric acid in it, which I think stops or slows ketosis, so its a big no no...... I hate black tea too, but with a sweetner tastes ok, green tea is nice too....... try a week without it and see what difference it makes to your weight loss....thats the telling tale.....

OK, point taken, I can easily have black coffee in the morning instead of the hot water - I've been reading other stuff on the web about citric acid/ketosis and it all makes sense. I don't want to jeopardise the diet in any way!

Yep - I'm afraid that citric acid is a no-no as far as ketosis goes, the slightest amount can knock you out (apparently) but everyone is different. As suggested i'd try a week without it and see how you go. x
