Hello, think i might join you

Amyeve

Mummy of 2!
Hi everyone:)

i really interested in the cambridge diet. i have tried and failed a few things and now with summer coming up i really want to get a move on.

I originally looked at lighter life, but nearly fell over when i saw the price. how much roughly does the CD cost per week? Dont mean to sound tight, its just im on maternity leave until June so not exactly flushed with cash:eek:

i really think it would help me not to have to think about food for a while and just to have the 'what shall i eat' decision taken out of my hands.

Im going to see my GP tomorrow to discuss my options, have you found your GP's to be supportive of CD?

Looking at all your losses its easy to get excited about what might lie ahead. Well done to you all :)

I haven't seen my GP as opted for the SS+ plan - no GP involvement ;)

I spend between £36 and £40 a week depending on whether I buy bars or just shakes and if I buy 3 a day or 4 a day. :)

It really does work if you stick to it! :D Try and limit your carbs for a few days before hand - or a week if you have it to spare - will make going into ketosis easier.

Also.. if you are breast feeding it's a big no-no ((hugs)) congrats on bambino! :)

Hi I have been on CD for a couple of weeks and lost 9 lbs in first week, Mine costs between 35 - 40 pounds a week depending on what I have.
When I went to doc re Lighter Life they would not sign a letter to allow me to do it apparently they dont agree with it. I went to CD and because my BMI was what it was I did not need a docs letter.
I really like this diet cos you can see the weight falling off you.
Good luck and I hope it works out for you :)
PS well done on weight loss so far x

gosh, thank you for your quick replies!!!

ah fantastic - thats a far more reasonable cost that i can justify to OH :D

No no, im not breast feeding (thank goodness as she now has a couple of teeth!) She is 9.5 months now - i had really hoped to have lost the weight by now but really struggling! its sooo depressing weighing/counting/synning and being 100% for a measley 1lb loss a week:eek:

im pleased with what i've lost so far but its just a drop in the ocean:( i've another 2st to loose after i shifted the baby weight so 4st + in total.

but ooooo excited about trying the CD now!!!

off to find a counsellor now :wavey:

thanks again
Amy xx

I think the cost is about £40 but be honest sit down and work out how much you are spending on food for yourself in a week.

Takeaways, coffee, junk & rubbish. I know I was definetly spending £20 so I only had to find another £20.

Best of luck if you decide to go with it.

Good luck with finding a CDC. My doc wasn't really very supportive but a nurse at the same surgery is incredibly supportive! i think it depends on the doctor to be honest.

Oh absolutely agree. i think with me, it should balance out ok. pre SW we would easily have a couple of takeaways a week, junk rubbish the lot. Nothing like that in the last few weeks though, although with SW you have to make everything from stratch and, although healthy, that bumps up the weekly shop bill too:(

Grr, makes me mad! what with all the hoo-ha about obesity figues rising. you'd think they would be super supportive at any attempts to help yourself:rolleyes:

Well thats what i thought but i guess some of them just want you to do it 'their' way. Its not like i was asking to have a gastric band fitted or anything though!

Ketosis.. that is the key word with those in the medical profession! They either see it as a tool to weight loss or disagree with it totally!

I found when going for an operation in the past they wouldn't go ahead till I was out of ketosis for 2 weeks (I was on atkins at the time).

Good luck in getting onto CD and celebrating the losses! :D

Hiya Amy - 2 stone will fall off you in no time! And i do the SS+ option and ive had some good losses so far, ive hot the 9lb mark in a week already.

I arrord my cd by making sure i incorparate it into my shopping bill each - id easily spend 40 a week on me alone with junk food etc!

thank you everyone!

oo good luck with your ttc saraian, well im assuming thats what your cycle ticker means:D thats the reason i want to loose all the weight, so i can have baby no.2 without the fear im going to pile even more weight on top of what im carrying now:rolleyes:

wow that is fantastic! :) That she's coming to you and that you got an appointment already! :D

There is a thread here somewhere (on the stickies - top of the boards) about leading into SS the right way... might be worth a read even if you adapt it for yourself :)

Congratulations! :D
