Emotional Eating?

Chunkydunker

Fat Fighter!!!!
Hi guys, I am def an emotional eater. I will eat happy, sad, angry, lonely - food really is my best friend at times. My problem is that on Saturday 7th March its my baby boys 3rd birthday in heaven  Now normally my finacee and I do something special in his memory. For his 1st birthday we did a sky dive, for his 2nd we treated ourselves to a weekend in a real posh hotel suite (Food Galore). Anyway last night my other half asked what we were gonna do this year - he suggested we let the kids join us and just go out for a slap up meal at our fave restaurant followed by the cinema for the kids. Nothing compared to a sky dive huh! I would rather not eat - I really am doing soooo well at the mo and don't want to spoil it. What should I do? Eat but just a tiny amount....no carbs etc.

Sorry about your loss :(.

If you really want to, maybe refeed and then return to LT. It's hard to get back on though to be honest. But if you usually do this for your son, I do feel that it is important to maybe join in with everyone.

I think it would be best to refeed and then get back on. Watch what you eat ok?

If I were to eat I would normally have fish or chicken anyway, so thats not bad. The problem like you say is getting back on the wagon! Arggghhhh sometimes this diet can be such a pain in the butt!

I think its a great idea doing something all together and if you want to join in and eat you should, im sure you can get back on after. Have you though about doing something else other that dinner, like go to the Zoo or Bowling, having a nice day out somewhere? I hope you have a lovely day whatever you do x

Mummy Em I live in Guernsey (We have no Zoo) :0( Bowling would cost a bloomin fortune for all 6 of us to go even just for 1 game! There is really not alot to do here! The kids are 17, 13, 9 and 1 so its hard to do something they all enjoy anyway! I think this is why we tend to do something just me n him! We actually haven't had a meal out all together since Erin was born so it would be nice. At the end of the day if I ate a healthy balanced meal and drank water whats the worst thats gonna happen! I'm not gonna put all the weight back on for having 1 meal! Its just a case of getting back on the shakes the next morning. I found it easy enough last week when I had a few drinkies (To get back on the shakes) Oh we will see, roll on Saturday!

Awww, I'm really sorry to hear about your loss :(

As for advice. I'll go against the flow here (as I tend to do:eek:)

What you do will really depend on what you are trying to achieve from LT. Just weight loss, or dealing with the issues as to why you became overweight in the first place.

If it's just weight loss, a meal will put on a load of water weight, that will come off again relatively quickly. If you want to deal with the issues, then carry on reading

Hi guys, I am def an emotional eater

You were an emotional eater, but you are learning to deal with it. To find other ways of expressing your sadness, happiness etc. So now a challenge has come up which will help you. You are still in abstinence. This isn't the time to learn to eat in moderation. This is the time to find another way. The more you do that, the better you will get at it. In the end, it wont occur to you to reach for food when you feel emotional, but you wont learn that when you are on the level so to speak. You will only learn it well when you make the right decision at the right time (not eating for emotional reasons).

If it was me, I would be inclined to tell DH that I wasn't ready for a meal just yet and could we do it another way this year. Maybe next.

Open up new doors, don't just face the problem. You don't want to eat, so don't. Find the solution rather than stare at the problem.

I really hope you have an amazing day where you can celebrate the birth of your little one :hug99:

Oh, good to see I'm not going against the flow after all

That really is good advice. Thanks ladiez :0)

hiya me personally considering the reason behind the get together (i'm sorry to hear about the loss of your little boy) I would have a meal eat sensibley with your family dont go overboard and get back on the shakes the following day it might be a bit hard but doable(?)

I know wot its like to loose a baby hun and at the end of the day u will do wot u wanna do anyway, jus be sensible and go straight back on it, u will feel bad if u dont join in on such a memorable day x hugz x

im new to the foram. so sorry for your loss, i would wake up that morning and make a decision then as to wot to do . if you eat then dont fret about it just go along with the day,do wot feels right at the time.xx

When I was going to cheat on the diet I couldn't! I had it in my hand and couldn't bring myself to do it!!

I understand it's a hard situation but personnaly I wouldn't do eat x
