Lighter Life Magazine

Purple Hugs

Loves weight.. training!
Hi,
Hope you don't mind my posting in here, but thought you'd be the people to ask :)

I noticed on the way out of Asda (family still have to eat) today that there was a magazine on sale called Lighter Life.. I wondered if it would be good for me as a CD-er ?

I didn't get time to stop and nosey at it but thought it may be a good idea for when I head up the plans etc.

Does anyone buy it? What do you think?

I'm a CDer and I buy it! It's really good :) x

I have a few issues, it has a lot of general, non-LighterLife specific articles and information/advice in it...

BTW, When you get to RTM, you can download a whole load of LL magazine articles from their website...

Thanks both :) will pick one up next week then :) And have a nosey on line for those downloads.. when the time comes! :D

Will be lovely to read something relevant.. without being bombarded with receipes that are out of reach! lol

I finally bought an issue of the LL mag from my LLC when I finished 20 weeks of abstinence cos I knew there were some good recipes it it. So I get home eager to try some out and what's the feature? Soup.

You can't make this stuff up.

LOL - that was the last one Guy, the previous month had some great recipes in it, and was a better read IMHO. We're hoping that the next issue has a feature on some of the Men from our group. Photo's were taken before Christmas so due any time now.

Oh, and generally a good magazine if a little too focussed on ladies losing weight, but I guess that's a slightly bigger market than the men!

That's a shame that it's aimed more at women.. for you I mean.. though I don't mind looking at guys! ;) :p

Great to know that if I find a month a bit lacking that they make up for it on other issues :)

Did have to laugh at the soup receipe though! lol Maybe they thought you'd miss it! :p

i've bought it occaissionaly and been really impressed with articles dealing with the pyshcologic aspects of diets/ eating. We all have to deal with that what ever diet we're on, and yes some of the recipes are really good too

But oh for some of those soups as LL flavours!!!

You'd be OK Guy. They don't get meny Men putting forward as you have to have a 'normal' BMI (<25) and most men are at a greater BMI despite being healthy weight. - I've expressed my opinion on this elsewhere, so won't go into that again...

Also I thought you needed to be maintaining for a while as well before they feature. But if I were you I'd go for it, Purple Hugs would appreciate it by the sounds of things!

Sounds like you should go for it Guy, spread the word and more men will notice for sure. In our CD section we have a bloke called Mat who is tearing up the place losing 6lb every week at the moment :) Really great to see as initially he thought he wasn't going to get on well.

I enjoy reading about men as much as women - well i'm a red blooded girl. ;) but I'm not saying I only like men between a healthy bmi lol My hubby is errr not ever going to meet that 'goal' as it's not even his goal! :p
I do think they should still show men that have lost a lot of weight. Many articles in magazine and press are about women who are still technically overweight after all.

Anyway... whether you go for it or not, you are obviously all doing well and that's the most important thing :)

Thanks Jane :) will definately give it a go :)

Yeah my LLC said I need to have maintained for a few months before being in it but she's encouraging me to start the process now. To be honest it's the whol phot shoot thing that puts me off. I;m more than willing to talk or write about it but pics ain't my bag.
