Lately I have been kind of "looking down" at some of my friends who are doing WW and not sticking to it. This is so wrong because I too was on WW and ended up bingeing the night away very often. However it kind of feels like I am a CD soldier- I am tough, relentless and prepared to do anything, equipped with my Tetra Bricks and Shakes and ready to fight! (lol). whereas they get to eat anything they bloody fancy.

So we are the big mighty CD soldiers and they are the little girls :p

sorry I am in a silly mood!

haha i know what you mean and i'm only on day 2!

I too am ex WW and the whole thing wound me up! I hated the meetings but it's the attitude that bugs me.... and the cheating! My friend used to count her points up every day but she'd never count alcohol points, because then it'd just be too hard...

umm

needless to say she remains the same weight!..

Not to say WW is bad/ you can't succeed on it. Many do!! It just wasn't for me.. CD all the way.. hopefully :D

Ha ha i was on ww and just couldnt stick with it this time around with the slow losses - so thats why i am back on here

Ha ha - this thread made me laugh, I think the main problem WW and any normal calorie controlled diet is that you get to keep eating sweet things, and loads of carbs, which fuels your sweet tooth, and you go from sugar rush to sugar depletion and withdrawl, and then craving again, so its a cycle set up to make you fail.

The CD diet, forces you to reject sugar and the evil carb cohorts, so you don't get a sugar rush, and you don't produce insulin to pull it all out of your system to creat a sugar withdrawl and a sugar craving again.

So its easier in so many ways.

I know exactly what you mean! I was in the school playground this morning talking to two friends who are fairly big women. I asked them both about their diets, one is on WW and the other is on RosemaryC. They both were saying that they are not losing weight and that they are getting fedup (baring in mind they have been doing these for 8ish weeks). I then put my shoulders back, stuck my chest out and proudly said "I have lost 13lbs in 6 days on CD". They didn't really ask about the diet because truthfully they are not in the right mindset and as earlier mentioned, they don't include alcohol in their calorie counting.

I know CD works for me cos I don't have to prepare anything, I just rip out the straw from the packaging, insert into the carton and drink! I can't resist when I have even a bite to eat, I have to have another. Gluttonous I know!

Yeh that whole sugar cycle thing is annoying! I have craved shoving things in my gob a little bit since starting CD but not actually sugar/chocolate etc? I hadn't even realised that until I just thought about it but it makes sense! Before I started I constantly craved sugar and would get really ratty if I couldn't have it and would go to the shop and buy rubbish. Funny how it gets out of your system so quickly :)

I guess that was the issue with WW cos I could go 1 week 2 week 3 weeks maybe with a bit of a loss but then no change, or put it back on, and I couldn't really understand why as I had stayed within my points. I think it was just really frustrating and confusing, and often I found the leader gave some quite poor "scientific" advice lol...

One time I remember she was talking about a lady who was walking LOADS and started off loosing a good amount but then it leveled off- so the leader told her to walk less, as her body just "wasn't used to it".. it doesn't take a genius to work out she'd just been putting on more muscle, which is heavier than fat.... I kept my mouth shut :S

Hmmm....

A "friend" of mine clerks at a WW meeting, and it has taken her 3 years to lose 2 stone (can't knock the girl - she did it eventually). She has consistently cheated, guessed at points values, binged, starved and so on and so on.

She text me a week ago to see if I was going to WW and I said no (she doesn't know about CD - she will try and sabotage it). She replied saying that I'd missed 3 weeks, and that I really needed to commit to losing weight, and WW had worked for her. I haven't spoken to her since.

I honestly can't see that WW did work for her. I think it was good luck rather than good judgement, because she is still making unhealthy choices, she is still guessing points. I don't want to be like that. At the far of point in the future when I do start eating again, I hope that I will be able to control what I eat.

WW wasn't teaching me control and that's what I need to learn.

Well sorry I have to defend WW. Its like any diet, you get out of it what you put in. If people fail on WW its because they havent stuck to it properly. In some ways doing a diet like WW is a harder option because you have to make so many choices. Its great youre all enjoying CD but I dont think thats a reason to put down another diet. I know loads of people whove tried CD/LL etc and failed miserably or put all their weight back on as soon as they came off it. That doesnt mean that Id think CD/LL was a bad diet, it means it wasnt right for them. Not a reason to put it down.

And Im certainly not 'a little girl' for choosing a diet thats helping me make sensible choices and has changed not only my life but the relationship I have with food.

I agree WW is definitely harder and I think everyone that manages on it is brill because they have done what I couldn't do! I guess different people look at dieting differently and a lifetime of eating all the wrong things is a very hard thing to change!

I can't knock WW because its worked in the past for me, and I know that you have done spectacularly on it, and I know it works for my mum. No diet, if you stick to it, is easier than another, every single one of them is tough.

I admire you for being able to diet so consistently, you can make the sensible choices with food - your losses are fantastic. I was struggling with WW
because I wasn't being regimented enough with what I was eating. Thats not the fault of the diet. Thats my fault.

I've got to learn to deal with food at a later date and while I'm hopeful I will make the sensible choice I suspect there will be occasions where I fall off the wagon hugely.

Sandy, I'm sorry if I offended you, It wasn't meant in that way

Guys this post was not intended to offend anyone- it was just something to give us CD's a little boost and light heartedness. I am sorry if anyone was offended by my post. Weightwatchers did teach me a lot and I will probably go back to it at maintenance to have control over my calorie intake. So please do not be offended.
