This diet plan is a success and we must all agree that the weight loss is fantastic. However like all diets, tfl's etc.what happens afterthe weight comes off? What happens after the refeed when we start eating again?

It would be great to hear from all the maintainers about the positive benefits and pitfalls.:D:D

Hi there

Whilst I did Cambridge and not Lipotrim, I think the same applies to all diets in terms of maintenance. You have to change your eating habits, if you go straight back to what you were doing before you will end up back where you started but yes it is possible!

What Porgeous said. Also you will find that your tastes have changed along with your portion requirements x

unfortunatley it's not the same as porgeous & eclipse for me. I lost 4 stone on lipotrim last year & although i think LT is great for weight loss & could not say a bad word about it, i was not able to keep the weight off at all. I loved being on LT as i didnt have to think about food at all, it was so straight forward, 3 shakes & water thats it! But when i did refeed it all went horribly wrong. I always said on LT, right until the end "i'll never let myself get like that again" but as quickly as i lost the weight i put it back on. I am in no way saying that everyone will be like this but it is so much harder when you come off the shakes in my experience. I didnt deal with my issues with food & as soon as i started eating "normally" again i was straight back into my old habbits again, i thought i had prepared myself for this but obviously hadnt. I would personally say that the real work starts when you refeed and if you can deal with that then you're like to keep the weight off

I'm planning on posting a new thread about this but it's relevant here. I am currently reading a book called 'Slim for Life' by Jason Vale. It's not another diet but is full of info designed to give you 'total freedom around all food so you will never have to battle mentally or physically with what you eat - or don't eat - ever again'. I'm only up to chapter 7 but I think it's a really good companion to TFR!!

Just a thought xx

I understand what pinkiepie means. With LT because you cut out food completely it doesn't train you to eat the right foods. I think that is where CD has the 'slight' edge, because you can work up the plans and introduce foods. You still have to exercise self control as once you start eating, the same old cravings do return, but because you are still going for weigh-ins, it made me behave.

The thing is we can never return to the way we used to eat...that is how we got fat in the first place. We have to learn to have self control and watch what we eat. With me it was not about looking at the causes for why I ate...nothing bad has happened to me, I over ate because I love food and liked the tastes...simple as!! That has not changed.

Now its about portion size and having a bit of what you fancy every now and then...not every night.

good advice - i mean if i started eating my 3 takeaways a week and started snacking again on choccy bars then the weight is going to come back on.

Yep, as all have said. My portion sizes are much smaller now, but just fine :) The composition of the meal is different too.

I still have the same amount of snacks, but the snacks don't go on and on until the next meal :D

I finished LT at end October last year and just did healthy eating afterward. I have kept the weight off with the exception of a little blip at christmas but I was able to reduce down again fairly quickly by healthy eating and paying attention to portion sizes.
After LT I found the food I used to eat did not appeal to me any more: I used to eat loads of takeaways, ready meals and cream cakes. Now I cook all my meals, have not had a single ready meal as I watch my salt intake and I find that the cream cakes upset my stomach so no longer enjoy them.

JanD, I also read Slim 4 Life by Jason Vale - a really good book though I found his writing style a bit annoying. But I can now easily do without chocolate. Another good book is Eating Less by Gillian Riley.

people have to teach themselves how to eat right after a diet like this.. the diet can't do everything for you.. its a great diet but its up to the person afterwards.. Eating healthily is pretty much common sense.. stick to refeed and when thats over just eat proper..
Heard of a lot of people who put the weight back on after this diet to be honest I think its the case for every diet.. just with LT its such a dramatic loss its gonna be a dramatic gain as well if u let it go that way.. train urself and read some self help books like the ones mentioned

I'm glad I stumbled on this thread, after completing my first week, with reasonable losses, I'm looking forward to the time I can move back to eating some food, with a little bit of apprehension about throwing it all back on again, so it's good to see that portion management and better eating does work after this.

Would just like to say that Porgeous and Shazpaz look great! :)

The weight can stay off...honestly. I gained 10lbs because I went to Florida for three weeks (including a cruise). I simply ate what I wanted...hence the weight gain. I got straight back to the diet and I think at tonights weigh in....I'll be back where I finished the diet.

Thanks for your nice comment.....I love Porgeous in that pickky....she looks amazing.

When I went to chemists this morning for WI she was telling me they now have (don't know how new it is - you may know all about it) a system whereby they calculate how many calories you need to maintain and then they have a recipe book wherein all the recipes are calorie counted for you - which you can buy (of course! :))

She said you can go straight to this or you can re-feed first. xx

thanks folks

Hi All
Comments pretty much as I expected.I know its all down to portion size and meal composition. It is good to know that after refeed there is no scientific formula to follow. I will try my best to be aware of my triggers. I have read quite a bit about the insulin issue, ie, eating bad carbs, sugars etc sends it sky high the drops it like a bomb, so we are starving. I have always had a thing for bread which I know I will have to restrict. But its nice to know that there are all you good folks out there to count on for advice:)

Another tip is to weigh regularly. You wont 'accidently' put on X amount of stone if you weigh frequently and deal with it very quickly.

Of course, we have body fluctuations but it doesn't take long to get used to your body and find out whether it's water or whatever.

A larger cal day needs to be followed by a smaller cal day. Not next week....not next month. so much easier to sort it straight away :)
