reallu upset ive gained 2 pounds

Day 5 now of Atkins from 3 months of Cambridge
Weight in today and ive gained 2 pounds:eek:
Ive stuck to the diet and am in kaytosis which I wasnt with CD
Im not longer on diet pepsi (well said 2 glasses 1 on a sat and one on a sun when we go out
Whats happening?
Could it be the sugar free jelly. Ive got a real bad sweet tooth and that stuff gets be through the day
Im having loads of water and 1L of the jelly which equals 4g of carbs whick im taking out my allowence
I am finding the diet a lot easier than CD
Could I be eating too much fat as I did have egg and bacon twice yesterday then chic salad for tea
Any advice anyone has anyone stitched from CD to Atkins before?
 
Hi there JM, may'be it is your body taking in more fluid from the food, and readjusting to your new diet. If I were you I wouldn't fret too much, and stick at it another week to see what happens before you make any changes. As for calories, when you say bacon and eggs, how many of each? Also, what is in the salad? Not all salad stuff is low carb, tomatoes for instance.
 
Hi, As TT said, I wouldn't fret to much yet.

When I switched from doing abstainance on VLCD to 2 packs and a low carb meal, my weight loss slowed down in the first week. I think it's just some water going back on from the food as TT said and the following week I lost 5lbs. I think you need to see what the losses are like over 2 or 3 weeks.

Sarah are you on 800cals? I was thinking of watching my calories.

Morning Tracy, yes am on around that. My two packs are 400 cals and my meals vary from 300 - 400 cals. I have lots of veg on my evening meals with around 200g of protein.
 
If I tell you what I ate yesterday that may help this is in addition to what id guess what 3l of water
4 pieces of bacon 4 eggs 2 sausages 2 mushrooms (breakfast and dinner)
plain lettuce dressed with the 1 gram carbs dressing, 2 eggs whites and a chicken breast
snacks were 2 baby bells and 2L jelly which was 4g of carbs in total
and I was totally stuffed
 
the bacon and eggs is that the total, or each meal?
 
Women tend to gain water weight, I'd put it down to that as your carbs are pretty non existent. Also you may have hit a weight plateau, in which case, you may find you hover at your present weight of just below for a couple of weeks, maybe three at most...this is normal too...I found that doing any diet I hit little plateaux every so often. It's the body getting used to the new weight, the hormone levels, the lack of this and that, etc...

Keep going, are you drinking enough water?

I had got to the point of being very slow to loose on Cd
Ive got a tyre still round me waist. My weight im quite ok with and im classed now (when I loose these 2 pounds ive gained) as about 5 pounds overweight. But with a tiny frame and height I still am massive
Im not going to give up with this as for one thing I like it and am actually eating so im going to give it 2 weeks then see what happening
Could I be eating too many eggs? or too much sat with the bacon and sausages as although they were low carb they were full fat

heres an intresting one Tracey I dont get TOTM, ive not had one since 2001 ish and yes have had 2 children since.
I have PCOS so no monthlies
Today ive had
2g carbs sugar free jellies (could it be these?)
4 sausages (1g carb each)
4 pieces of bacon
3 eggs
2g carbs lettuce
1 small chicken breast
a peporomi and baby bell
and loads of water
is this too much or am I snacking too much
This is what ive eaten all day which basically is sasage and egg then bacon and eggs for breakie and lunch then chic salad for tea with the peporomi and baby bell as a snack
 
I don't see many carbs at all, so the food you are eating is not the cause...I think it is a plateau and it may well take a while to get through it, but if you keep at the diet then I am sure will will see the end of it and see a drop in weight soon...

And on low carb diets the calories aren't really the thing to watch...it doesn't look like you're eating too many in any case...

My low carb diet has loads more food in it than yours and I was losing weight on that...

How much exercise do you do? Maybe starting walking or something more active might kickstart the weight loss again...there is even a high fat, medium protein fast you can do to kickstart the weight loss, but only to be used as a last resort...I think your condition may be slowing your weight loss...
 
hey hun , i know this may sound daft but have you thought about the fact that youve had practically nothing in youre system for 3 months , and now you are carrying the weight of the food you've eaten this past week in your system its amazing how much a plate of food weighs , it could just be that luvie dont give up , xxxx

It great being able to eat something and being in katosis again
its just a mystry, mind you if anyone can gain on this diet it will be me LOL
 
have faith hunnie , im not loosing masses but im never hungry , i have lots of energy for my running and i am loosing lots of inches , i really think this is the way forward for me for long term health ,xx
 
I'd like to see a lot more green leaf veggie there.
 
ok just cos you dont have periods doesnt mean you dont have totm, i had a hysterectomy 6yrs ago, i have no womb, but your body still does that water retention thing once a month or thereabouts lol, so it may be your body is doing that and your retaining, also measure yourself everyweek when you weigh in, that way you will see maybe your losing inches when you dont lose lb`s, which will help you not be so disheartened. good luck anyway
