Restart - Finding it difficult!!! help!

Hi guys,

Im a guy and I lost 6 stone on CD last year and managed to keep off the weight all the way up to Christmas this year...... thats when it all went wrong!

Since December, Ive put back on a stone and a half :( Im so frightened its all gonna go back on again.

I've tried to start CD again a couple of times since the beginning of the year, but am finding it frustratingly difficult. Today, i have started again. I feel that this is my last ditch attempt at a restart. Im so annoyed with myself, and I can feel the clothes I bought after losing weight rapidly beginning to feel tighter.

Currently weigh 14.11 and am 5'11" want to get to 12 1/2.

I am going to see my counsellor tonight for the first time in ages. Does anyone have any tips forme restarting? Like I said ive tried twice this year and both times failed on day 2. :(

Cheers

Minty

Hey Minty...

in the same boat meself to be honest except i stopped in august last year and have failed miserably to get back on track... starting tomorrow i'm doing my last restart ever....

just try to remember that you did this before so you CAN do it!!!! also if ya don't get this under control now you will put the rest of the weight you lost back on... a stone and a half is easy enough to get off but don't end up like me nearly back to where i started...

keep in touch and remember ..... YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

love

Hey mintimperial

I've never had to go through a restart (still have 16lbs to go to target).. but I have spent last week messing around and eating out rather a lot.. something I never ever contemplated for the first 12 weeks of the diet.. I was so commited and then it all went to pot in a week (I lost 1lb on my weigh in today.. but last monday - following a weekend where I ate 3 meals.. the 3lbs I had lost by the saturday had been put back on by the Monday weigh in!!!)

I've set up a thread to help motivate people to get that last stone off, feel free to join it! I find that I respond well to challenges, it increases my determination. Plus by getting enough people involved who are either struggling or restarting like yourself then we can motivate each other?? I am very annoyed with myself that in just a week I came close to jeopardising the whole thing - it has made me realise that I will always have to watch how I eat..

So feel free to join the challenge and share your thoughts when your fat brain is telling you to eat.. hopefully we can get u past day 2 of ur restart and right through to the end :D

Hi Minty,

You have done very well 6 stone is mega and I think your right to get back to your CDC and not let this gain of one and half stone become any bigger.

I myself took a break over Christmas and gained the same and I am now back two weeks and down 13lbs.:)

Okay, we can all kick ourselves for putting the weight back on but this does not help as it just gets us down even more:(

Your here now and taking back your conrol which is what it is all about.

Start upping your water intake and as Gen has said you have done it before and you will again.

By the way I jumped into SSing cold turkey and it is much harder than cutting down on carbs before hand...it is really your choice. I am sure your CDC will advise.

Have you thought of starting on one of the higher plans and working your way down? You might find doing CD1000 that you can wean yourself off carbs, etc and start to relose the weight. Just a thought, and something I recommend to clients who are 'returning' :)

I too started again today after about 4 failed restarts since christmas, its so hard. I managed to ss for about 2 and a half weeks before christmas and lost 18 pounds. Sadly i stopped for christmas and every pound has gone back on. Still have had a sucessfull day today , so fingers crossed i can stay focused this time and get through these horrible first few days, Its supposed to be one of the hottest summers on record this year and i for one dont want to be all covered up and sweating and embarrased. Will let you know how i get on, Good luck Cherryxxxx

Thanks everyone, I've just got back from my consellor's place and stocked up on packs. Im gonna get there this time.

worst thing is though, ive just got home and my flatmate is cooking the most beautiful smelling stir fry and she asked me if I wanted some! She wasn't to know!

I still have 3 packs to have so im gonna go try the brocolli and cheese soup.. lets hope it fills the gap!

Day 1 of restart without a hitch. Im on day 2 and that's the one I always fail on. I know I can do it this time. Just watch me!

Oh and scales are already down :)

But you are not going to fail on this day 2!! Just remember how good it feels when that dial goes down on the scales and your trousers get that bit more comfortable. That 1 1/2 stone will be gone in a couple of weeks. Come on you can do this.

Just found a pack of wrigley's extra in my pocket..without even thinking i just had one! Spat it out as soon as i realised. Hopefully it wont affect anything! oops!

Hi Minty,

How have you found the Brocolli and cheese soup?

Are you doing any type of exercise?

Hi Minty

I know this is not official policy but if you are struggling it wont hurt to have a few extra packs a day until you get into ketosis. One of my Clients did that and she was still in ketosis by the 3rd day and did not suffer getting there. After all even 6 packs are less than 900 calories.

I hope this helps if you get desperate. Good luck

Hi Everyone, an update - no probs on day 2!!!!!! Yay!!!

Went to my g/f house last night and it took away the urge to go to the fridge!

Hopefully ill be in Ketosis soon.

Mini - Found the broccoli and cheese soup quite nice actually.. seems a bit thicker than some of the others and less milky :)

Not doing much excersise (some things never change)!! well except the naughty kind lol.

Redpam - Thanks, Ive done that in the past but I'm determined to do it by the bok this time! - then again, its better than eating food, so if i get really bad and go to eat something, ill think of your post.

So, day 3 for the first time since i lost all the weight. Im excited. I think the difference is I'm coming here and posting. Really helps..

Minty:D

A bit of a setback.....

:break_diet:

Yep, Im afraid a setback has hit me.... :(

Last night I did just about the worst thing you could do and had a pizza. My flatmates somehow convinced me it wouldnt be that bad if i just had it one night....lol hmm. I know it was bad but the problem is I dont really feel that guilty.

Whats is the solution?

:sigh:

Don't let it be a setback where you give up ... just pick yourself up - dust yourself down and get back on the SS road. Hopefully it won't take you as long to get back into ketosis if you only had a little lapse.

Good luck - we're all behind you!!!

Hi Minty,

That was last night minty and today is a new day so keeping going on your diet and forget it.

It is amazing how we can convince ourselves that we need something or it will be okay.

I use to tell myself if I did not eat the biscuits in the cupboard that they would go bad:rolleyes: which is funny as biscuits never lasted a day in this house. Needless to say we do not buy them now. Not even for visitors which was another old excuse of mine...poor visitors hardly ever saw a biscuit either as I would have them ate:eek:

But last night down to learning and ask yourself what you have learned from it, instead of beating yourself up.

Keep plodding away sometimes it takes a couple of goes before your really get back into the swing of things. If you keep slipping though do as D_Q suggested start on 1000 cals even if for only 3 days move down to 790 then on to SS.

You can do this so don't beat your self up about it.

hi everyone,
I think cutting down carbs slowly does help. I tried this and cut down on carb intake from friday and now feeling less hungry, Hopefull will be 100% ssing tomorrow and will be in Ketosis by tuesday.
This cold and dull weather aint helping much is it?

Your right it does make it much easier to get back into SSing. I have done it both ways and going cold turkey is tough compared to gradualy reducing your carbs and increasing your water as you go.

I would think you wll be back in ketosis perhaps before Tuesday.

Glad to see your over the flu.
