Argh finding it hard

Really struggling these last couple of days have felt hungry all the time and wanted to snack alot.

Just had some raisins as a snack because I thought they were healthy and low in calories but then looked at the calories and they're quite alot and I ate loads of them :(

Think i've had about 1600 today which is way over what I'm meant to have.

If I gain weight this week i'm going to seriously cry.

In desperate need of motivation, I know tomorrow's another day and I'm hoping it's all going to get right back on track.

Any motivational words and advice on how to stop feeling like snacking and anything to make me feel better is appreciated, don't know what I'd do without this forum

Aww sorry to hear your feeling this way, i find it hard, sometimes im absolutley starving but just keep thinking how i will feel when i loose the weight, i pour myself a glass of water when im feeling hungry in between meals and snack on strawberries yumm and not too high in calories either 100g is only around 20something calories,

If you do gain put it behind you and take each day as it comes try not to dwell on the bad things you have snacked on and brush yaself down and carry on tomorrow as a new day

We are all human after all and we do feel the need to snack sometimes just as long as a little snack doesnt turn into a whole week of bingeing you will be fine xx

Hope that helps a bit :)

Yep give yourself a break( a non food one:p). I struggle everyday actually.
Hot baths, drinking water, trying on old 'fat clothes' that are loose now, putting on music having a dance, any methods of distraction and if all else fails -MINIMILKS!!! - lovely icecream lollies, 30 calories each just re-discovered them from childhood.

Mmmmm i love minimilks may have to go get some :)

Keep going it's hard.

When you want to fel full but don't want cals and want a bit of comfort...try keeping a load of sugar free jelly in fridge, feels you a treat x

No added sugar Angel Delight (try the strawberry flavour poured over a few strawberries. Delicious snack that feels alot naughtier than it is) :)

Angel Delight is a lot in calories isn't it though?! I love it you see and have stopped eating it now!

Not really. About 90 cals per serving with milk. I tend to bulk it up with fresh fruit. Mullerrice are really good too for filling you up, but they are about 200 cals per pot!

Oh right, how many servings do you get from one packet??

In the old days i would have a whole pack to myaself because you dont get much :)

When I'm feeling hungry and my stomach is making strange noises I imagine it's little gremlins inside me eating away at the fat. Usually works for me! :D

If you are hungry, there's a possibility you need more protein. Protein is fab for curbing hunger

I have almonds (as they have other great properties). Just a handful that I put into a little pot for nibbles

Quite high in calories, but healthy fats and certainly stop me picking at other things.

Check your carb intake. Not saying go low carb, but try to keep your carbs more low GI based. Wholegrain/seeded bread, brown rice etc.

Of course, fruits, veg etc are surprisingly satisfying because of the water content... (drinking water doesn't have the same effect...works in a different way).

Another idea is to make soups. Again, this is much more satisfying as the water content is combined with the food, so it's not treated as water in the stomach, so will make you feel more satisfied (larger volume for less cals).

Hope that helps.

I suppose it depends on what you are comparing them with and what you are looking to get out of them.

Health wise, almonds are the bees knees :D Full of goodies.

Calorie wise, an ounce is less than a couple of bananas, and about 2 fun size mars bars.

I have an ounce a day and they last me much longer than 2 fun sized mars bars! Also keep me 'satisfied'.

There's also other benefits of almonds for weight loss. Research has shown that people who snacked on 2-3 ounces of almonds, on top of their normal maintenance calories, didn't gain any weight despite the extra calories.

Other studies had groups eating nuts, then no nuts, compared with another group not eating nuts, then eating them. They lost more weight when they were eating the nuts, though that may be because they felt less hungry so ate less other calories.

But with the previous study I mentioned, they were actually eating more and not putting on.

They aren't sure why this is. Some researchers think almonds may boost the metabolic rate, others think it may be to do with the way they are digested.

Mention here which refers to a study mentioned in the International Journal of Obesity.
Almonds May Help in Weight Loss

And elsewhere, and also back up by the "BBC Truth About Food" which debunks myths.

Personally, I'd be cautious about eating them freely, regardless of the research, but 25 nuts for about 170 calories, fits well as a mid morning, mid afternoon and evening snack :)

Oh, BTW it's not any nuts. There's 3 nuts that work this way. Almonds are one of them

Thats a great detailed explanation :) I love almonds so may give this a try every other day :)

Don't tell anyone about the calorie research though, otherwise everyone will be after them and we wont be able to get them for love nor money. Secret between ourselves ;) :D
