I posted this in the recipes section... but it had no luck, i thought more people would see it if i posted here...

Hi, well I have been eating a lot of salads lately, and I always use that Hellman's Extra Lite Mayo as a dressing to give it a bit of moisture... but I am getting tired of it now.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for any salad dressing either shop bought or home made???

Any ideas would be appriciated! Thanks :D

You can make a simple french dressing :
1 teaspoon wine vinegar or lemon juice
3 teaspoons oil of your choice. Olive is a much stronger flavour than sunflower, for example.
Salt and pepper.
You can add a little mustard to the vinegar if you wish too.
To make an oriental- tasting one substitute the vinegar for soy sauce. (good with fine noodles and prawns with fresh coriander salad).

Another one, very good with raw carrots/peppers etc
4 Tablespoons crème fraiche 3% fat or low fat fromage blanc.
1 tablespoon lemon juice
salt and pepper.

Another simple one is Crème fraiche 3% and loads of chopped chives, salt and pepper. You can add any herb you like, or a little horseradish and garlic and it makes a great dip. It's also good in a baked potato.
Bon apetit!

Wow you're amazing!! those are gorgeous ideas, I am going to make a shopping list for when I am next at the supermarket :D I haven't tried creme fraiche before... but i hear that it's low in fat, so I wanna try that, I like the idea of putting it on a jacket pototo too.

I wanna try that oriental one too, i love soy sauce, and i made noodles last night, it would have been nice on them...

Thanks so much for your ideas :)

I was going to suggest a little olive oil and lemon, but patchninja beat me to it....sigh! hehe )

I just sprinkle my salads with balsamic vinegar, I love it.
